Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich resigned under pressure after gay rights activists (http://washingtonexaminer.com/section/gay-marriage) demanded that he step down or recant his support of traditional marriage laws.

Eich donated $1,000 to support Proposition 8 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_8_%282008%29), the California ballot initiative that amended the state's constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman.

"I don't want to talk about my personal beliefs because I kept them out of Mozilla all these 15 years we've been going,” Eich told The Guardian (http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/apr/01/mozilla-ceo-brendan-eich-refuses-to-quit). “I don't believe they're relevant.”

That wasn't an option. "CEO Brendan Eich should make an unequivocal statement of support for marriage equality," a Credoaction petition signed by almost 75,000 people said, per The Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2336520/mozilla-defends-ceo-over-homophobic-claims). "If he cannot, he should resign. And if he will not, the board should fire him immediately."

When asked if his beliefs about marriage should constitute a firing offense the way racism or sexism does, Eich argued that these religious beliefs — and beliefs popular as of 2008 — should not be used as a basis for dismissal.

"I don't believe that's true, on the basis of what's permissible to support or vote on in 2008," he told CNET (http://www.cnet.com/news/mozilla-ceo-gay-marriage-firestorm-could-hurt-firefox-cause-q-a/). "It's still permissible. Beliefs that are protected, that include political and religious speech, are generally not something that can be held against even a CEO. I understand there are people who disagree with me on this one."

On Thursday, Mozilla announced (http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/Mitchell%20Baker,%20Executive%20Chairwoman) that he had resigned. "Mozilla prides itself on being held to a different standard and, this past week, we didn't live up to it," executive chairwoman Mitchell Baker wrote. "We know why people are hurt and angry, and they are right: it's because we haven't stayed true to ourselves. We didn't act like you'd expect Mozilla to act. We didn't move fast enough to engage with people once the controversy started. We're sorry. We must do better."

Political Correctness strikes again. Have a view outside of what is approved for populist consumption, you'll be dismissed. If I was CEO, I'd probably hang a sign from my window office that said "FAGS, GO FUCK YOURSELVES!!"

No such thing as freedom of speech or religion if you go against the LGBT community.

"Forced" to resign?

Where is the army of Gay 'enforcers' who 'Forced' him to resign? Did they hold a gun to his head? Did they threaten his life?

Im wondering what the definition of 'forced' is in this situation.....More like 'shamed' into submission. Which means he actually cares about what the 'gay' agenda has to say.

When he 'resigned' he basically admitted that what he said was wrong. I would NEVER resign, i would force them to fire me so i could make an even bigger deal out of it.

I suspect he was given a great retirement package - or- he would face harsh actions from the board. I am sure he read the tea leaves and saw he couldn't win. Sounds like Mozilla is run by a bunch of fags.

Very intolerant of the fags, wouldn't you say? These are the perverts that went around demanding tolerance. They do not tolerate anyone who won't agree with their pervert lifestyle. Fine. They will burn for their actions. Time is running short. They will have a couple years of party and then all comes crashing down. And it will come in waves of woe.

"Hate Speech" was invented in the Soviet Union to silence political dissent. The Left (or Communists as they are usually known,) use the "Hate Speech" charge to silence their opposition. They can make it a "crime" to disagree with them. They can destroy your life, take away your freedoms, and take away your job just if you don't cow-tow to them and their "protected classes". Remember it's only "Hate Speech" if you disagree with a Leftist. If it's the other way around no one cares.

Its like the racist accusations. You can see pretty clearly who is aligned with the devil just by their injustice, unlawfulness and hypocrisy. But they are being allowed to dive deeper into their own cesspool of choice. The days grow darker and a small light will seem brighter to those looking for light. Separation. It is happening. The gap will widen.

Its possible his resignation will resonate their wrong doing.

Anyway he's being outpaced by Chrome (if it wasn't all their plot to begin with). Firefox is being sandwiched between them and IE, the roof of security.

Yes. This sums up the ways of the world. I will always choose being a nobody if it takes homophelia to be a bigshot. This world is toast.

What is mozilla.org.il

Mozilla.org.il is the home of the Mozilla Heberw Localization (L10n for short) project. This site was set up to help promote our work on Mozilla, and increase users' awarness of it. Our message board (http://mozilla.org.il/board/) is intended to be a center for Hebrew Mozilla users, and developers - both of Mozilla compatible Web sites and of Mozilla components.

http://mozilla.org.il/english.shtml

Sure enough, the double standard is there.

Mozilla does deep integration work with an entire country that does not allow gay marriage.

What an abomination!!!

I don't know if its just me, but I've been experiencing considerable slowing with Mozilla since this thread posted.

Went to Chrome and I was at warp speed when compared.

If I had the extra cash, i'd register the domain name "FAG-Zilla" and point it to the Mozilla website.

the political correctness in Silicon Valley is something there is almost no avoiding.

there are alternatives, e.g. Crucial/Micron in Boise Idaho ... but in many high-tech centers, gay politics are first-tier in people's consciousness - even if they're straight.

for the 2008/9 Stanford re-union thingie, they forced all of us to read a blurb about a gay Stanford couple, as the "dream ?" - dream something. showing the world how "tolerant" they are.

to be honest, i'm glad Eich got a rash of shit for giving $1000 to Prop 8. it helps the world understand Silicon Valley politics.
