One of the deputy commissioners of the Australian Taxation Office has resigned suddenly. I have two "observations" to make.

1) it is my belief that a Commission, is much like a Letter of Marque and Reprisal. A license to interdict traffic. Basically a pirates license. Without a Commissioner there is not authority to make claim against anyone. It is in the name of the commissioner that claims are made and without one there is no authority to make a claim.
2) This deputy may have been captured by private action much like I took against the commissioner myself but which I failed to drive home.

The head of the tax department responsible for collecting the federal government’s minerals resource rent tax has just quit her position, throwing doubt over the agency’s ability to collect the tax.
Stephanie Martin, a deputy commissioner at the Australian Taxation Office, was until last month heading the ATO’s resource rent tax team which had responsibility for collecting the Minerals Resource Rent Tax and Petroleum Resource Rent Tax.
But Ms Martin retired from her position quietly on March 7 and it is understood no replacement has been found for her.
The minerals resource rent tax must still be collected by law and will not be repealed until the new senate takes shape from July 1.
Ms Martin could not be reached for comment.
The news comes after the Tax Office made a major reshuffle of its organisations in the months following the Coalition’s September election win.
The ATO Commissioner, Chris Jordan, wrote to all employees on 20 November last year warning them about the organisation’s need to reduce staff.

................
The Tax Office is a separate agency from the Australian government with control of its own operations, including staffing levels.

Do they pretend that taxes are 'voluntary' payments like the IRS does?

How extensive is the tax fraud in Australia?

Did you know that the real headquarters of the US tax office is in Puerto Rico?, to me that means that the US government knows that taxes are illegal and that's the reason to keep it out of the US.......... If the Puerto Rican started to pay taxes or make them into a state that would make that headquarters, more or less, legal.

I have to ask, would it matter in the slightest if it were part of the Australian 'Government'?

In other words, would the 'Austrailian Taxation Office' somehow become a moral and virtuous entity if it were infact part of the Austrailian 'Government'?

'Legislation' CAN NOT alter human morality.
Men CAN NOT delegate Rights they do not have.
Individuals CAN NOT be morally obligated to do the wrong thing.

nope. Governments do not have morality or empathy.

The point was, that like the IRS it would appear that claims from the "lunatic fringe" that the ATO is not an Australian entity are true. I post it as a tidbit of truth, a morsel, a little wafer if you will.

I consider them to be pirates on the sea of commerce which means that their claims are simply that, just claims. I think 7thTrump has a good assessment of how they operate by way of our volunteerism or entering into an accord with them to be interdicted and our cargo (wealth) pillaged. But other than the accord, there is little/no legitimacy to their existence.
