I am no beamer fan but seriously, could they NOT have draped the hose OVER the car?
Sure they could but with that same police mentality, they took their DESTRUCTIVE mindset and applied it just to show how "tough" they are.
Going OVER (or even under) the car would have been faster and easier as well.

yes just being douches. They should have reported the car for a citation and ran the hose over the top. The hose is heavy. It still would have done some damage but I think that is willful and likely to cause a liability to the FD.

I have a couple Bimmers... a Bimmer does not dictate a Douche, the drivers actions do. If I parked there which I wouldn't have, would expect something like this, or to get towed. They could have opened the doors and the hose wouldn't have been kinked.

It was a matter of 'entitlement'. Not all BMW owners have that sense of entitlement, however this would appear to be a recurring theme. There are only three other cars I've found images of the same situation, one was a Chrysler mini van, one was a Kia, and another appears to be a Honda.

I'm always amazed that some high priced car drivers do seem to think everyone will/should avoid dinging/denting/scratching their car and they sometimes jam them into traffic and gaps with the expectation of others backing off and making space.

me, I'm egalitarian and courteous. How can this be? I drive junker which by appearances may or may not be insured. What is the driver of a $80K beemer going to do. Euro cars cost double here than they do in the US. I also think Mr McGoo was onto something.

Sure a sweet leather lounge and high end stereo is a great environment to be in when traveling to work but it doesn't get you anything on the outside privilege entitlement wise. it's a tough one. I think that the actions were determined a bit by the type of car. If it were an old heap it probably wouldn't have happened and if it were a super exotic it probably wouldn't have happened. Did you find any ferraris or Lambos treated like that?

I still think purposeful damage in that way is just spite. It's not normal and other options were available. The act of parking at the hydrant was one thing but smashing the windows and damaging the inside on purpose is pretty low.

When there are exigent circumstances, those who deal with exigent circumstances as a routine part of their job don't stand around and discuss anything, they just do whatever is most expedient drawing on their experience and training. I'm thinking that those who condemn the firefighters here have little or no experience in dealing with exigent circumstances surrounding fire or other extreme emergencies where loss of life or property is involved.

Common sense dictates one just does not park in front of a fire hydrant.

I have seen emergency personnel working up close and they are unrushed and deliberate in their actions. This is because they are working in dangerous situations and they don't need to add to the situation by getting injured or injuring others. So I think there would be a deliberate decision here. In the examples I saw it looked like there were other options. over or around. One of them, they looped the hose back to the car. Anyway I'm sure rich upstarts will continue to be the only people who park in front of hydrants.

Speaking of BMW supercars, ridealong in a BMW M1, arguably the finest high performance car BMW ever built. 3.5 liter six cylinder mid-engine. Note that the only other car on the track the driver has difficulty passing is another M1 and how this driver has the advantage of being able to turn the corners super tight.
