JACKSON -- Eric Knysz is in critical condition after attempting to commit suicide Monday, authorities say.
State Police confirmed Knysz attempted the suicide in his cell at the Jackson Prison.
MSP officials say he attempted to hang himself with a bedsheet.
He is currently listed in critical condition and on life support at a Jackson Hospital. He is not expected to survive.
Knysz was sentenced to life in prison last week in the September murder of State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield.
