The Las Vegas Review Journalreported that the Las Vegas office of ACORN has been engaged in massive fraud. At least 48% of the registrations turned in by ACORN are fraudulent.


Indeed, it was so obvious that the ACORN Las Vegas office was raided by authorities. They found that 59 inmates from a work-release program at a nearby prison were employed by ACORN and found numerous irregularities. Its field director, Christopher Edwards, pled guilty to two gross misdemeanor counts of conspiracy.


Despite these findings, when the US Senate voted 83-7 to block ACORN from bidding for additional federal grant money, Reid (http://www.exposeharry.com/) refused to hold a hearing on ACORN’s activities. It reads like a cast of characters for a detective film noir: powerful politicians, shady businessmen, high-ranking law officers and an idealistic, persistent prosecutor.

The plot includes allegations of corruption, cover-ups and the naked exercise of power.

Let's title this movie "Rogue Runner" — only this story is not fiction. It's the code name Davis County Attorney Troy Rawlings has given the sprawling probe he has spun off (http://www.sltrib.com/home/3193068-155/shurtleff-prosecutor-is-investigating-harry-reid) from the investigation that ensnared former Utah Attorneys General Mark Shurtleff and John Swallow.

And now, in a dramatic twist, Rawlings wants a state grand jury this summer to hear the evidence he has amassed and consider possible criminal indictments.


Rawlings has been collecting evidence about longtime Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., first-term Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, the U.S. Department of Justice's Public Integrity Section and staffers with the U.S. attorney's office for Utah, along with other state and local officials.

The premise is bold: that federal prosecutors in Utah and Washington, D.C., failed or refused to pursue evidence of corruption in some high places. Was there a cover-up? If so, who gave the orders and whom were they trying to protect?

"We are reviewing what the federal government was not willing to do," Rawlings told The Salt Lake Tribune.
The prosecutor wants a grand jury to consider evidence about the following:

• The abrupt withdrawal of the Department of Justice Public Integrity Section (DOJ-PIN) from investigations of Swallow and Shurtleff in 2013 without filing charges.

• The apparent failure of DOJ-PIN and the FBI to seriously investigate allegations by St. George businessman Jeremy Johnson that Swallow helped initiate a 2010 effort to bribe Reid, Senate majority leader at the time, to stall an investigation by federal regulators into Johnson's online marketing company.

• The prosecution of Johnson by the U.S. attorney's office in Utah and the connections between Swallow and federal trial attorney Brent Ward, who had been chief prosecutor of Johnson at the time the businessman was trying to pressure Swallow to return monies from the Reid deal and warning it could be made public.

• Lee's 2010 election campaign, which allegedly received about $50,000 and perhaps more from Johnson through the use of so-called "straw donors" at the time when Johnson and his partners were processing illegal online-poker transactions.

• The development of a Utah Transit Authority FrontRunner station in Draper. The $65 million Whitewater VII project became the subject of a state probe and a legislative audit after questions surfaced about business connections between Shurtleff supporter and businessman Mark Robbins and then-UTA board member Terry Diehl. The development deal was investigated while Shurtleff was in office but was turned over to federal agencies over conflict concerns. Federal prosecutors have never filed charges.

Making the case for a grand jury • Before any possible prosecutions in these matters, however, the Davis County attorney must clear two hurdles: persuade a five-judge panel to convene a grand jury to hear the Rogue Runner evidence and secure funding to bring in witnesses and cover other costs.

Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes has promised Rawlings (http://www.sltrib.com/news/3800544-155/davis-county-attorney-getting-state-funds) at least $50,000 from a state litigation fund, though the details were being negotiated Monday. That's money Rawlings said he will tap to help close any evidence-gathering loops, including collecting sworn statements from witnesses in Utah, across the U.S. and even overseas.

Getting the court to impanel a grand jury could prove much tougher.

State grand juries are rare in Utah. Most prosecutors file criminal charges directly in a district court, which then holds a preliminary hearing to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to merit a trial.

Grand juries, which by law are staged in secret, essentially work in reverse. Prosecutors call witnesses — typically through subpoenas — to provide sworn testimony and present other evidence to a panel of nine to 15 jurors. This panel then decides, by majority vote, whether there is sufficient cause for a criminal indictment.
Prosecutors consider grand juries valuable, particularly in public-corruption or misconduct cases in which witnesses may be reluctant to cooperate, said Paul Boyden, executive director of Utah's Statewide Association of Prosecutors.

"It's especially useful, but it's a little hard to get," he said. "Our court is not particularly favorable to grand juries."
Boyden noted that a 2015 Utah Supreme Court ruling criticized the process as a way for prosecutors to circumvent legal protections for those accused or suspected of crimes, including the right to be informed of the charges and to be represented by a lawyer.

"By persuading the panel [of judges] to summon a grand jury," the justices wrote, "a prosecutor postpones all of these obligations to defendants until after he obtains an indictment."

Even if Rawlings successfully sways the court, the public may never know the outcome of any grand-jury proceeding. By law, those hearings must be held in secret, so any information about witnesses or the scope of the Rogue Runner probe would be protected unless indictments are issued.

Pay to play • Rawlings has offered few public details about his grand-jury plans, but court filings in pursuit of documents (http://www.sltrib.com/home/3160994-155/utah-prosecutor-feds-must-turn-over) held by federal agencies provide clues.

Shurtleff — whom Rawlings is prosecuting for his role in an alleged "pay to play" operation inside the Utah attorney general's office — is expected to be featured prominently, but not as a target. Instead, he would serve as a key witness in an investigation that Rawlings will only say is "integrally related" to the former three-term attorney general's own case.

It's a role Shurtleff welcomes because his 2012 attempts to alert federal officials to a possible bribe of Reid "fell on deaf ears," his attorney Richard Van Wagoner said.

"Mr. Shurtleff is delighted that Mr. Reyes and Mr. Rawlings are not looking in the other direction and are willing to pursue this matter to whatever destination it goes," Van Wagoner said. "In this day and age, it's a very politically difficult and courageous thing."

Reid's office did not return (http://www.sltrib.com/home/3198780-155/reid-dismisses-utah-prosecutors-investigation-as) an email seeking comment but previously has denied any wrongdoing and dismissed Rawlings' efforts as political grandstanding.

In 2014, Rawlings and Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill jointly charged Shurtleff and Swallow, his handpicked successor, with multiple felony and misdemeanor counts stemming from actions in the attorney general's office or political campaigns.

The criminal cases came about 10 months after a 2013 announcement that federal authorities would bow out of prosecuting either man — despite a long FBI investigation into the allegations.
Federal officials provided no reason for the decision.

Shurtleff and Swallow have pleaded not guilty, and their now-separate cases are ongoing in Salt Lake City's 3rd District Court.

Both cases rely heavily on evidence gathered by the FBI, whose agents continued to work closely with Gill and Rawlings even after federal prosecutors walked away.

The pursuit of a grand jury stems from the questions that remain unanswered, Rawlings said.

"The full scope of the allegations, including all potential players, has never been adequately addressed, if even at all, in the context of the Utah Criminal Code," he said.

Allegations concerning these matters have had public airings, largely because of Jeremy Johnson. The southern Utah businessman went public days after Swallow took office in January 2013 about the then-new attorney general's involvement in an alleged push to bribe Reid. Swallow has termed it a lobbying effort. As for Johnson, he is awaiting sentencing in federal court on eight counts of providing false information to a bank in a case unrelated to the accusations involving Reid.

Officially it’s Johnson versus ICE, but make no mistake about it, the entire trial boils down to corruption perpetrated by Harry Reid, who will now be forced to give a deposition under oath. Taylor Johnson not only had a spotless record as an ICE investigator, she had a sterling one, even winning an award for her service. Every one of her reviews were excellant………..until she started probing EB-5 visas given to investors of a casino group represented by Rory Reid, Harry’s son. After that, her life became a nightmare.

Harry Reid wrote a letter to her bosses complaining about her. She had expressed concerns that some of the investors had originally been turned down for the visas on National Security grounds. And Reid’s son was not the only high profile person involved with questionable visas. Terry McAuliffe, the current governor of Virginia and Anthony Rodham, brother of Hillary Clinton were also getting highly questionable investments for a car company that built a total of one car, used for exhibition.

Right after they received Reid’s letter, Johnson was stripped of her gun and badge. She was put in an office with no work to do in hopes that she would quit. Finally, they offered her $100,000 to go away and keep quiet. She turned them down cold. Eventually they fired her over a large numbers of calls to someone near the Mexican border. They claimed she was hiding information she was receiving from an informant without checking who owned the phone she was calling. It was her mother.

They were never able to come up with another reason for firing her.


This is where Reid is in deep doo doo. He must now explain why he wrote the letter disparaging her besides the fact that it was hurting his son financially. Not only that, but he will have to explain his relationship with Alejandro Mayorkas, who approved the questionable visas after they were denied, some multiple times. Mayorkas worked for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), so he should be very aware of the dangers of allowing security risks (Mostly from China) into the United States. He was amply rewarded for his loyalty to corrupt democrats. Obama nominated him for the number two position at the DHS, right behind Jeh Johnson.

When it became apparent that the republicans would filibuster his nomination and that he did not have the votes for cloture, Reid used the nuclear option and suspended the filibuster rule in order to get Mayorkas’ nomination confirmed.
Johnson has been given a date, June 27th for her lawsuit against ICE and Reid will certainly be a witness called to testify.

Prosecutors move to drop corruption case against Shurtleff

SALT LAKE CITY – Prosecutors in the corruption case against former Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff are asking the court to drop the charges against him.

In a motion filed in 3rd District Court Monday, the Davis County Attorney’s Office is asking for the case to be dropped, citing various issues with the case within the motion. Reasons cited for seeking the dismissal are based on Shurtleff’s cooperation with the state in other investigations, a recent Supreme Court ruling and the inability to provide all evidence asked for by the defense, among other issues.

According to a statement issued Monday by Shurtleff’s attorney Richard Von Wagoner, he said his client is “gratified” by the prosecution’s motion to dismiss, as reported by Fox 13 News (http://fox13now.com/2016/07/18/prosecutor-moves-to-dismiss-all-charges-against-former-utah-ag-mark-shurtleff/).


Mr. Shurtleff is gratified that the state has seen the wisdom not to oppose his motions to dismiss. While captioned as a ‘Motion to Dismiss,’ the state’s own filing concedes, for the most part, the basis for and strength of Mr. Shurtleff’s dispositive motions. Mr. Shurtleff and his counsel are in the process of reviewing the state’s filings and will have more to say at an appropriate time, once the Court has the opportunity to review and rule on the parties’ respective submissions.


According to the motion written by Davis County Attorney Troy Rawlings, Shurtleff has cooperated with prosecutors in the past on multiple occasions and has “provided significant and important information” to the state and worked with the federal government, and will continue to do so. He will “even testify” as needed. This cooperation also involved reporting on the suspected crimes of an unnamed United States senator to federal agencies.

PHILADELPHIA ― Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is advising intelligence officials that if they end up giving GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/news/donald-trump/) classified briefings during the campaign, they should just fake it and make sure not to divulge anything important.

“How would the CIA and the other intelligence agencies brief this guy? How could they do that? I would suggest to the intelligence agencies, if you’re forced to brief this guy, don’t tell him anything, just fake it, because this man is dangerous,” Reid said in an interview with The Huffington Post Wednesday afternoon. “Fake it, pretend you’re doing a briefing, but you can’t give the guy any information.”

“This guy, he’s part of a foreign power,” Reid continued. “We knew he liked Putin before this, but this is quite ridiculous.”

Intelligence officials are becoming increasingly convinced that the hack of the Democratic National Committee and subsequent release of DNC emails was the work of the Russian government, with the goal of undermining Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and boosting her rival, Trump. Trump on Wednesday called on Russia to release any additional emails (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-russia-hack_us_5798d1c8e4b02d5d5ed3b51a?rv6qeplmocih82rzf r) they have from Clinton ― actively inviting a foreign power to intervene in a U.S. election.

Reid wouldn’t call the comments “treason,” leaving the characterizations to others. But, referencing his nearly half a century in politics, he proclaimed: “I’ve never seen anything like Donald Trump.” The scale of the cybercrime and the possibility of it being done at the behest of a presidential candidate, he added, could wind up being worse than Watergate.

“I think Watergate was something that people understood. It was wrong, morally wrong, for the president of the United States to be involved in such trivia,” he said. “What Trump is talking about is much worse than Watergate. Absolutely.”

This will now be the second time that congressional leaders have encouraged intelligence agencies to either fake or suspend briefings for a prospective presidential candidate. Last month, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) requested that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence cut off Clinton over revelations that she had been careless in her handling of classified information related to her use of a private email account. At the Democratic convention in Philadelphia this week, donors have been panicking about WikiLeaks’ promises that more is to come. Speculation that the DNC is only the tip of the hacked iceberg is rampant.
Perhaps Trump, Reid suggested, could find out how extensive the damage is.

“I guess the only way we can find out is perhaps Donald can call Putin and say, ‘what else do you have?’” Reid said.

“We know there are connections between Putin and Trump. How do we know that? He said so. And I’ve never heard Putin deny it. In fact, he has done just the opposite.”

Some may recall in May I visited Grassy Mountain and the Calico Mining operation set to unearth the ground just a few miles east of the scenic Splendor of Owyhee Canyonlands and Owyhee river. When I say a few miles I mean like FIVE!

The road in from Vale to Grassy Mountain is long and dusty but just a few miles further and you drop into the Canyon and the East bank of the reservoir.

There is also a spring and a small oasis of green foliage at a site which provides fresh water to those trekking through the hot, dry desert terrain.

What's bothering me about this is that BLM is allowing the mining companies to perform the environmental impact studies themselves and there is a history of payouts, favors and dirty deals. Anytime you see mining emerge in an otherwise virgin territory there seems to be a chain of buy/sell agreements between companies and a confusing over layer of who's really behind the project.

This particular project was just recently run by a Canadian Company, Calico Resources but then in May, just after I visited it was traded to Paramount Gold Nevada.

When this happened, I registered as a prospective investor to maintain a link to what's going on. Their quite proud of their accomplishments and their ability to fast track this thing through.

What I'm hearing is they've found a new way to pay off officials and streamline the stringent Oregon permit process which has kept others from gaining access to our minerals, including local residents who try to earn a living in the mining business here. So to Oregon and those deprived of their former industries due to over regulation we're saying NO! , but to Bureaucrats from a far "Yes Please"... so long as there's some side action for those selling us down the river.

If you know anything of Nevada, Mining and Gold, you know Harry Reid is all over it as well as his Sons and his Daughter. They're like a small syndicate crime mob controlling everything Mining anywhere in the Western States.

Reid lobbies against his party on mining issues and is completely beholden to the mining industry as they heavily pad his pockets and those of his Children. So be certain that somewhere hidden in the details of this entire transfer of control that Harry Reid will emerge as a partner, constituent and/or benefactor.

Be aware Oregon, Harry Reid, and Ron Wyden are selling you out on this and I assure you they are up to their derriere in this operation.

We'll be following along as this develops but one has to wonder...where are the liberals? Where are the protests from the very same groups that are fighting for the Owyhee Monument. Where is Obama, the primary driving force behind the Monument Project.

Oregon doesn't want the Monument and they Don't want out of Country and out of State biggie corporations rolling in and extracting our minerals with no reclamation proposal.

What's wrong with allowing Oregon miners access to keep the benefit IN the County where it resides? The people of Malhuer County should be the benefactor, not the Bureaucrats from New York (Wyden), Nevada (Reid) and DC (Obama) I wouldn't be surprised to see the Clinton Foundation in line for the payout somehow also.

Here we have towns and Counties who are emaciated and dying before our eyes and now their land is being raped and pillaged from under them with merely the promise of a few laborer jobs.
I'n not against mining, in fact I support it whole heartedly on a local level. These are local resources and the money should stay in the local region in which they are extracted or harvested. Just like Timber, there are environmentally responsible methods for yielding these products. Greed is interfering and those in office who are on the take.

What I'm opposed to is the selling out of our rural Families to add more wealth to the elite. Ya' don't suppose there is any relation to this and the full on assault on the Cattle business do you?
Where will the gold be sent? Will they be leaching it there and leaving the toxic remains while they cart off the resources?

Who at BLM is getting fat from this? Who from County Government?

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) went to the Senate floor Thursday morning to declare that when history looks back on the current Congress, it will "note the Republicans in Congress treated President Obama with unprecedented disrespect."

"President Obama is the first President to be denied a hearing on his budget. He's the first President to be denied a hearing on a Supreme Court nominee. President Obama is the first President asked to show his birth certificate," Reid said on the floor. "President Obama is the first President to face over 500 filibusters here in the Senate. In this Republican Senate, President Obama will receive fewer nominees confirmed than any President in many many decades. Republicans have not done their basic work of government."

The comments were part of a string of political speeches Reid has given on the floor in recent months, as the general election has approached and Congress' productivity has come to a screeching halt. During his speech, Reid blamed Republican obstructionism and political games for laying the groundwork for Donald Trump as the GOP nominee.

"They would have us believe that Trump just fell out of the sky and somehow mysteriously became the nominee of the party, but that's not the way it is," Reid said. "Everything that he's said, stood for, done in this bizarre campaign that he's run has come, filtered up, from what's going on in the Republican Senate."
Trump, Reid said, "is the monster Republicans built."
"He is their Frankenstein monster. They own him," he said.

Then, the Nevada Democrat reroutes money from federal subsidies to go to those corporations as a kind of “investment” return. It’s disgusting, but then again, so is Harry Reid.


For example, the NewsMax report details that, “Fulcrum Bioenergy began contributing to the Clean Energy Project (CEP) two years ago. Last year, the Nevada Democrat steered tens of millions of dollars in federal grant money to the California biofuel company.”

It’s a lucrative scheme for the corrupt corporations and politicians. But for those of us who can barely pay our taxes every year, this is blatant theft and open corruption.
