A world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public manipulation, dictated by a corrupt political system.

How did he know?

How did he know?

Because he (Eric Blair real name) was an insider himself.

So they told us what they were going to do through him and now they are doing it?

I don't think it was planned by 'them' that Blair spill the beans like that, but I suppose it is possible. Perhaps he wrote what he did 'cause he had a conscience and what he was exposed to troubled him hence him writing a 'warning' in both 1984 and Animal Farm (that's my take).

either he was an insider or a genius who could foresee the inevitable outcome of controlling human society. But him being an insider is much more very likely. We owe insiders to know the truth, only them can allow the true reality of this world surface

I found a Wikipedia entry about Orwell here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Orwell

I know Wikipedia is open to manipulation of its content, but if this account of Orwell is even partially true, it is good reason to believe that he was not an 'insider' in the sense that he subscribed to the goal of world domination by the elite. On the contrary--he was an observant writer who saw the techniques used by demagogues and the arsenal of social engineering techniques used by the elite to warn humanity of what was in store for them if they didn't wake up. He actually spent time 'slumming' in London--that is, hanging out with the lower classes to get a sense of their perspective on things. One of his more brilliant literary achievements was to describe Newspeak and Doublethink to a mass audience. I doubt that any insider would want the masses to even get close to grasping these ideas. If he was an insider, he betrayed them by painting an accurate picture of them.

I think it was somebody on this forum who pointed out that it is a "hybrid dystopian" society we live in. Very much Orwellian for those of us who are awake, the ones who took the red pill. For those who took the blue pill the world is very much in the image of Huxley's Brave New World. It's not hard to see, those who do not want to see are constantly distracted by endless bread and circuses. While those who yearn for the way things once were are barricaded by an oppressive police state.
