BREAKING: House Votes To Hold Lerner In Contempt

According to reports (http://thehill.com/policy/finance/205527-house-votes-231-187-to-hold-irss-lerner-in-contempt)Wednesday, six Democrats joined Republicans in the U.S. House in voting to hold former IRS official Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress.
Throughout much of the past year, she has refused to testify as part of the ongoing investigation into claims of unwarranted targeting of conservative groups by IRS agents under her command.
Though she has repeatedly attempted to invoke her Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination, Republicans in the House contend she waived those rights when she initially claimed she played no role in the scandal.
“The contempt of the U.S. House of Representatives is a serious matter, and one we take only when duly warranted,” said House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. “There are few government abuses more serious than using the IRS to punish American citizens for their political beliefs.”
In a separate vote Wednesday, Republicans led a successful vote to compel Attorney General Eric Holder to select a special prosecutor for the IRS investigation.
