Have noticed a huge increasing of assorted spam cumming in over the last 3 days. Working on new or improving my filters, but wondered if anyone else has seen the same thing. I use a public free mail server, mainly for what family I have left, and also to avoid the total bitch of changing everything that I do rely on for info.

Huge jump, and I have not changed anything, nor been at any trap sites, my guard dogs did not even growl at me, the spam just started showing up.

i notice that sometimes valuable emails end up in the Spam folder. so it's a good idea to sometimes search for the emails of people whose emails you wouldn't want to miss.

the one thing that i notice that's different in the business world is the behavior of Chase credit cards. about 2 months ago, they started going berserk, acting very differently. all of a sudden, $10 more in attempted interest charges, etc.

i can only conclude, JP Morgan needs money, and so they scam their credit card customers by making spurious debits for interest fees that are definitely computed using 21st century definitions of interest.

i took economics & engineering economics in the 1970's, and took accounting & finance classes at the U of Florida (Gainesville) biz school in the early 1980's. so, that is the vintage of GAAP (Gen. accept. account. principles) that i was originally taught.

interest itself is very simple.

the other thing i wonder is if somehow, Dogman, if your email was part of a larger 'sweep' / pattern of spam. for example, involving the hacking of Target. the recent hacking of eBay (100 million + customers).

my Yahoo account was hacked in Nov. 2012. in a way that was sort of good, i got emails from some friends i hadn't heard from in a while, kidding me about the "Work at Home" opportunity some spammer used my email for.

I am thinking the one I am using opened up for cash access to their long term users? Been doing this from the beginning, very early days of the net, and had times of being flooded with them, but for a good 5 years, kool, none.

But within, the last week or so, wow!

For the first time, I am starting to make custom filters, and if it keeps up I will change and abandone this one that I have held so long.

It is a yahoo account. they have been good, I may go back to the google one, it so far remains clean as far as unwanted crap.

or I may say screw it and look for a new one.

Been doing this here from the early 1990's early net times, and very very slow speeds.

I notice it comes in waves. They keep coming up with new language to use to get past the spam blockers. I think it then takes a couple days for the blockers to confirm these new patterns and start filtering them. I seem to have about 5000 court cases I'm due to appear at right now.

This latest bunch of crud, seems to have numbers that roll in the address , so the auto filters can not keep up. This is the worst case of spam I have ever had, in memory, but my first early hot mail account, before microshit got into the act may have been worse. ? hard to remember back that far when it comes to something as this minor.
