View Full Version : Memorial Day Message to Veterans: Government Considers You the Enemy

Veterans are props to be rolled out on Memorial Day as homage is paid to the state and its endless wars.

Earlier today, Obama appeared at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery for a photo op. From The Washington Post:

Obama, aided by a soldier in uniform, rested the large wreath on a stand a few minutes after 11 a.m. Monday. The president adjusted the wreath, stepped back and bowed his head in silence for a few moments. Afterward, an Army bugler played taps.

Later he appeared at the cemetery’s Memorial Amphitheater to read from a script. “We’re in a pivotal moment. Our troops are coming home. By the end of this year, our war in Afghanistan will finally come to an end,” he recited.

“These Americans have done their duty. They ask nothing more than that our country does ours, for now and the decades to come,” Obama said.

But, as the VA scandal and countless other examples reveal, the government considers veterans as little more than third class citizens, props to be rolled out on Memorial Day as homage is ritually paid to the state and its endless wars.

The booboisie, as H. L. Mencken described the forever gullible and easily bamboozled American public, were practically knocking down the gates to get in to witness this annual worship of state violence:

Before the ceremony, a large number of people were turned away from the cemetery’s entrances by security personnel who said that the event was at capacity.

When the government is not praising veterans for their “service” in foreign wars of conquest and other illegal activity driven primarily by the financial elite – see Smedley Butler, below – it spends a lot of time demonizing veterans as enemies of the state:

And they should be afraid! On one hand they send people to fight, saying it is just to do so! Then on the other hand, they are afraid of maybe some that seen that what they bleed for ,had friends die for, or are crippled for life , for what? I still support going int Afghanistan but never Iraq, that was bush the son, finishing what his dad did not. Total cress pool!

I can understand going after bad guys, that attack us. But will never condone this nations blood spilled over economic/political reasons. But I will fight for my friends.

My war knowing a better picture of the politics at that time, was wrong. Support of imperialism mostly, during a time that many country's wanted the foreigners that controlled their country out!

The ones in washington, need to pay attention bunch of vets HAVE woke up. And it will be harder for off the wall justification to send troops on land that is not theirs, and spend their blood!

If they truely do pull most of the troops back home, I think the veterans thing is going to be a hell of a lot hotter, I come from a military family, but jumped the fence into another service, I was drafted, so I joined a service of what I thought I knew, from contact with my closest relative. What i learned has served me in my jobs over the years greatly. (Non combat skills) Also at the time I was a snot ass kid , when I left I knew discipline, and grew up and that saved me from probably spending my life in prison.

The ass hats in washington, and the political critters across this nation, need to be afraid, Today info is not so contained like it was in my early days. Tho the net is a swamp of total bull shit, and people that want their reality's to be real, and not what really happened on the ground, eye level, up close and personal for many that served.

One hoot I have is the ones here that are living in other country's, never been a citizen here, have not a clue, But they can judge and think they understand, English I bet is not their first language judging they that have to live here!

It is a hoot, sadly but to be expected!

Then there is the other bunch that ran, many now are in control , politically, because their family's had money.

Have a major sore spot, but not part of this discussion.

But the gov needs to be very careful, bunch of multi tours vets, and they are angry.

Out of this thread.

US Navy veteran Harold Estes wrote a letter to Obama. Mr. Estes passed away May 17, 2011 at 96. Memorial Day is just around the corner.

Honor our dead warriors by forwarding a copy of Mr. Estes' letter to Obama his last Memorial Day in office.

The letter from Chief Boatswain’s Mate Estes is real and sent by a real person.

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don’t believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos’n Mate. Now I live in a “rest home” located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can’t figure out what country you are the president of.

You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:

” We’re no longer a Christian nation”

” America is arrogant” –

(Your wife even
announced to the world,

”America is mean-
spirited. ”

Please tell her to try preaching
that nonsense to 23 generations of our
war dead buried all over the globe who
died for no other reason than to free a
whole lot of strangers from tyranny and
hopelessness.)

I’d say shame on the both of you, but I don’t think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said,” America hasn’t lived up to her ideals.”

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn’t mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don’t think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don’t, I’ll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don’t want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight? You don’t mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don’t want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you’re thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.

You’re not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That’s not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.

And I sure as hell don’t want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Sincerely,

Harold B. Estes
