GOP Millionaire Wing double-crossing Rand Paul for Hillary
May 21, 2014. New York. During the 2012 Republican Presidential primary, the social and libertarian wings of the party united and began racking up victories for Congressman Ron Paul over the Wall Street wing’s Mitt Romney. With the huge Texas primary next on the list, Paul’s home state, a deal was hatched that united the party for 2012 and for 2016. But it’s apparent that the millionaire wing is breaking its half of the deal, betraying Rand Paul, and backing none other than Hillary Clinton.
Anyone who was a part of either Ron Paul’s or Mitt Romney’s campaign for President in 2012 knows the truth, and the good Dr. Paul lost most of his following because of it. With victory on the horizon, Ron Paul shocked his volunteers and dropped out of the race and endorsed Mitt Romney. It was no secret. The deal was, if Ron Paul dropped out and endorsed Romney, the Wall Street wing of the GOP would return the favor in 2016 and endorse Ron’s son Rand Paul for President. In fact, he already is the party’s nominee if you pay close enough attention. It’s a done deal. Even the Republicans know it. That’s why many of them are quietly backing Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Clinton, Bush or no one
According to a recent Politico (http://www.politico.com/story/2014/04/wall-street-republicans-hillary-clinton-2016-106070_Page2.html) article, the fix is in. Of the three GOP wings - Wall Street, religious and libertarian - the Wall Street wing is in the process of walking away from the Republican Party and embracing the Democrats again, at least in the race for President. According to GOP experts, it’s because they see US Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) as too much of a populist who repeatedly condemns Wall Street, its bailouts and the mysterious public-private Federal Reserve.
‘That kind of talk leaves some rich people contemplating the notion of supporting Clinton in what would amount to a reversion to 2008, when Wall Street money went nearly 2 to 1 for then-Sen. Barack Obama over Sen. John McCain,’ Politico writes, ‘Even those who could never back her don’t see her as a huge threat to the business community.’ Illustrating that idea, it was only a couple months ago that the Clintons were special guests at a major fundraiser in her honor at Goldman Sachs.
The report goes on to quote a number of GOP “mega-donors” who explain what’s going on behind closed doors right now. They insist the Wall Street Republicans were ready to support New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, until he imploded. And they love the globalist former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. But they despise Rand Paul, and most especially, his populist politics. “The bulk of the big money guys are either Big Boy [Christie] or Jeb ,” Politico quoted one major Republican donor, “Rand Paul is still a grassroots phenom and a boardroom horror show.”
One conservative news outlet, Rare.us (http://rare.us/story/establishment-republicans-secretly-support-hillary-over-rand-paul/sthash.x1eQ39uB.dpuf), summed up their conclusion on the subject saying, ‘The prevailing sentiment of Wall Street Republicans is as follows: “If we can’t nominate someone like Bush or Christie from the pro-business wing of the party, and if the GOP nominee is from the far right, then we will hold our noses and tolerate Clinton.”’
[B]Wall Street’s worst nightmare
What would Wall Street’s worst nightmare be? According to both establishment parties’ major strategists and donors - Elizabeth Warren vs. Rand Paul. That Presidential match-up would go a long way in shattering America’s left-right obsession. With Warren labeled a far left winger and Paul labeled a far right winger, it’s amazing how much they actually have in common when it comes to standing up for the people over special interests.
That sentiment is summed up by the same conservative publication when it quotes a Republican lawyer who works on Wall Street saying, “If it turns out to be Jeb versus Hillary, we would love that and either outcome would be fine. We could live with either one. Jeb versus Joe Biden would also be fine. If it’s Rand Paul or Ted Cruz versus someone like Elizabeth Warren, that would be everybody’s worst nightmare.”

A Presidential run by US Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) would add even more intrigue to the scenario. Warren is a hero to the progressive left for her fierce policing of Wall Street immediately after the economic collapse in 2008. But few are aware that not long ago, Elizabeth Warren was a Republican. In the 1990’s, she lived in Pennsylvania and was a registered GOP voter. She also insists she was actually an independent, but voted with the GOP, until the party betrayed regular Americans.
A recent report from Think Progress (http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2014/04/27/3431303/warren-left-gop/) quotes Warren explaining that time in her life and why she’s not a Republican anymore, “I was an independent. I was with the GOP for a while because I really thought that it was a party that was principled in its conservative approach to economics and to markets. And I feel like the GOP just left that. They moved to a party that said - No, it’s not about a level playing field. It’s now about a field that’s gotten tilted - And they really stood up for the big financial institutions when the big financial institutions are just hammering middle class American families. I just feel like that’s a party that moved way, way away.”
So with a former Republican possibly running as the Democrat, and the Democrat being supported by the Republicans, can someone please explain what’s going on with American politics? We can. It’s not about left-versus-right. It’s about the establishment versus the people. And while Elizabeth Warren and Rand Paul are the best the people can come up with, Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush are the best the establishment can come up with. It’s as simple as that.
