It'd be too expensive to pave roads with these things. The other uses the video points out though, those could work. Having a playground with these installed where different games can be configured or for personal use in driveways to eliminate having to shovel in the winter time.

The commentary is very annoying - does he really have a clue how bad his delivery is???
Aside from that, none of it really makes sense. If the money is allocated to rebuild roads with solar cells, yet those cells are used to light and heat the roadways (making plowing snow obsolete) how is there any monetary savings? if the power derived from the cells is being used, there's no way this technology pays for itself and considering politics, payoffs, no bid contracts - I really doubt there will ever be any real accountability with regard to money outlay vs money recovered in terms of energy savings.
All that being considered - this presentation is one sided, annoying and pretty much devoid of del facts. While the technology could be beneficial, I doubt that anyone in charge of funding will have the taxpayers interest in mind - expect high priced toll roads or huge gasoline tax increases to pay for technology that will never pay off (just like tolls on bridges and roadways that never go away)

This is not practical. Solar needs Silver and we all know how rare that is. In other words only so much of it can be made.
The other problem is this goes against Agenda 21. The roads in America are all falling apart and have potholes since that's being done on purpose to eventually stop people driving and traveling long distances.

Huge skyscrapers in cities all around the world are skinned in mirrored glass, and mirrors are made with silver. Doesn't appear to be a problem.
Besides, what's not to like. The real world will finally begin to look like a 90's video game. :)

You don't need holes in the roads for that. Just up the price of gasoline.
