A man armed with a rifle fired multiple shots into an SUV carrying hip hop artist Schoolboy Q and three others after a performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre Thursday night. Three of the men were wounded, and the gunman is being sought.

Schoolboy Q, Quincy Matthew Hanley, 27, of Los Angeles, was not injured. He was in the vehicle, which sped from Red Rocks Park, was followed by police, and was eventually stopped in Denver at West Sixth Avenue and Kalamath Street.

Three others in the SUV with Hanley were hit by the gunfire and taken to Denver Health Medical Center. One was treated and released and the other two suffered wounds that are not life-threatening, said Mark Techmeyer, a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
The three people shot were not identified.

Hanley was briefly handcuffed in Denver because the vehicle had not stopped for police as it left the park and did not stop as police pursued it into Denver with lights flashing.

Hanley was not arrested and is not a suspect in the shooting, Techmeyer said.

A man with a rifle opened fire on the SUV about 10:25 p.m. as the vehicle was moving. The incident happened behind the amphitheater in the area of the Red Rocks Trading Post, Techmeyer said. Investigators are searching the park Friday, seeking evidence and clues.
The Thursday show at Red Rocks also featured Nas and Flying Lotus.

Shortly after Nas' set wrapped up Patricio Illanes was walking down the exit ramp toward the Trading Post and South Parking lot outside the venue when he heard gunshots.

"We heard more than eight gunshots in a row," Illanes said. "Then saw an SUV take off and we paused for a minute."
"We didn't hear anyone yelling or anything like," he said. "At the time we were thinking the situation might have been fireworks."

Many people at the show Thursday were delayed when leaving the amphitheatre as police and sheriff's deputies checked vehicle and concert goers identifications.

Anyone in the backstage area of the show, or near the Trading Post, between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. who shot video or took photos is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 303 271-5612.

Investigators would like to speak to them and view their images in hopes of spotting the shooter.
There is a show at the amphitheater Friday night, and it will go on.

In March, Schoolboy Q put on a sold-out show at the Ogden Theater (http://www.heyreverb.com/blog/2014/03/28)in Denver. During the event, someone in the crowd threw an object at the performer and he jumped off the stage to confront the individual.

Security staff separated the rapper from the audience member and Schoolboy climbed back onto the stage and finished the show.
Investigators do not have a motive in the Red Rocks shootings. Schoolboy Q and the three who were shot are being cooperative in the investigation, the sheriff's office said.

Someone carrying a year long grudge? Thankfully the police had enough officers on hand to run full check points.

It is also interesting that SQ was placed in cuffs but not arrested. So only kidnapped then?
