Two men with an assault rifle and handgun robbed a 7-Eleven store in Macomb Township today and investigators are looking into whether the heist is related to other armed robberies this month at 7-Eleven stores in Macomb County.
Two men entered the store at 48989 Romeo Plank just before 4 a.m. today and approached the clerk, each brandishing a weapon. They took several packs of Marlboro Menthol cigarettes and $80-$100 before fleeing on foot southbound, the Macomb County sheriff’s office said.
They said both men were wearing maroon masks and blue, one-piece jumpsuits.
The sheriff’s office described the man with the assault rifle as a light-skinned black male wearing an olive or cream-colored knit hat; olive or cream-colored, long-sleeve T-shirt, and red gloves. The man with the handgun was described as white, wearing a black baseball hat; long-sleeve, white T-shirt; red, short-sleeve T-shirt, and Converse tennis shoes.
On Wednesday, a man with a gun robbed the 7-Eleven store at 33800 23 Mile at Callens in Chesterfield Township of money about 5:30 a.m., township police said.
Just before 1 a.m. June 3, a 7-Eleven clerk in Clinton Township was held at gunpoint then locked in a back room during a heist. The man jumped the counter and pointed a dark-colored handgun at the clerk at the store at 18711 Fifteen Mile. He took money, locked up the clerk and fled the store, Clinton Township police said.
