Controversial US Scientist Creates Deadly New Flu Strain ‘for Pandemic Rese

A controversial scientist who carried out provocative research on making influenza viruses more infectious has completed his most dangerous experiment to date by deliberately creating a pandemic strain of flu that can evade the human immune system.

Yoshihiro Kawaoka of the University of Wisconsin-Madison has genetically manipulated the 2009 strain of pandemic flu in order for it to “escape” the control of the immune system’s neutralizing antibodies, effectively making the human population defenseless against its reemergence.
Most of the world today has developed some level of immunity to the 2009 pandemic flu virus, which means that it can now be treated as less dangerous “seasonal flu”. However, The Independent understands that Professor Kawaoka intentionally set out to see if it was possible to convert it to a pre-pandemic state in order to analyze the genetic changes involved.

'Untrue statements' anger over work to make H5N1 bird-flu virus MORE dangerous to humans

Some of the world's most eminent scientists have severely criticised the arguments used by some influenza researchers who are trying to make the H5N1 bird-flu virus more dangerous to humans by repeatedly infecting laboratory ferrets.

More than 50 senior scientists (http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/h5n1-virus-research-its-a-small-risk-with-a-lethal-implication-9018756.html) from 14 countries, including three Nobel laureates and several fellows of the Royal Society, have written to the European Commission denouncing claims that the ferret experiments are necessary for the development of new flu vaccines and anti-viral drugs.

They also said it is "untrue" to state that the new mutations in the laboratory strain of H5N1, which have enabled the bird-flu virus to be airborne transmissible between ferrets and, potentially, people, have already been seen in nature.
The letter signed by 56 eminent scientists, many of whom are national science academicians, was designed to correct "misstatements" made by the president of the European Society of Virology, Professor Giorgio Palu, who they claim made "incorrect" assertions about the need to carry out the research in an earlier letter he had sent to the Commission.
The ferret research is being carried out by Ron Fouchier and colleagues at the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam. He has been involved in a legal dispute with the Dutch government which has insisted that he needs an export licence before his H5N1 work is published in a scientific journal.

The Dutch government claimed that the work to study the mutations needed to make H5N1 airborne transmissible between ferrets or people has a possible dual civil-military function and could be misused by bioterrorists. Meanwhile, Dr Fouchier has argued that an export licence hampers his academic freedom to publish the results of his experiments in the open scientific literature.

Not sure what the Civil portion of the Dual function of this.

I'm actually trying to find an article which I believe was published by the Independent UK which was talking about the Sacking of a number of scientists involved in making these flu strains incurable. I think it was the team from the OP but anyway this article turned up which I thought was interesting. Ferrets. Remembering it was the ferrets that saved us from the last pandemic.

I guess since scientists can't seem to solve existing human health problems anymore, they need to create new ones to validate their existence.

when viruses that dont exist in nature are created, the purpose is clear: to kill off humans

Of course Singular, they just found 30 dujikis of bugs where it should not be.....it has happened 5 times already........and who knows how many times that we don't know about.......hiding.......waiting........till the time is right....In my car I carry a protective gas mask (among other goodies) read to go into action at a five second notice......on myself......I carry a small swimmers gargle and a few nose and mouth protectors, also a five gallons water container.........the time to get ready is BEFORE IT HAPPENS.
