Not sure if others are watching this Or interested. The 2nd annual SJPORR home brew beer challenge is underway right now. The challenge is to brew your best beer and have it peer reviewed. They have divided the world into regions, UK, US, down under lands AU and NZ. The US is split into 3 regions I think, East, West and South. You send your beers to a hub who repack 1 of each brewers beers and send them back out to the participants in that hub.

Winners from each hub/world region will then submit more of their beer into a finals series and those will go and be judged by the world wide hubs.

The participants get to judge each others beers. Some are posting reviews at YT without scores. I am not sure if scores are published as they go or if it is done near the end.

This YT search lists the most recent posted SJPORR reviews.

I look for the beers' Entry number and also search for those to see several reviews of the same beer. See if they are consistent between tasters. Seems they are mostly.

This guys entry gets good feedback most times as an example.

Never heard of it... I like the idea. I'll have to keep an eye on this.

I've been enjoying the reviews that people are posting on YT. Not everyone is a youtuber and a couple people have done YT's without appearing on camera. That's what I would do if I did any online review.

Its an interesting process to see the same beer reviewed several times. I've noticed a couple times where a beer getting great reviews, looks nice and so on but doesn't seem to pull it off for the odd reviewer. They don't end up with the same beer in the glass that the others did. I find that a disappointment. Not for me but for the brewer and the taster/reviewer because clearly from other reviews the beer is a good/great beer. Saying that it's mostly in the looks because I don't think anyone has served up a bad beer.

When I got my comment sheets back from theSDIBC this year, I had a couple of beers that one judge said was a near perfect example of the style and the other one critcized for oxidized hops, diacetyl, etc... same beer, same day... the way it goes! Few people taste beer the same way, so you can't please everyone.

Unless you are Vinnie Cilurzo, that is... LOL
