City of 90,000. They built a brand new state of the art police station several years ago then hired a lot more cops. Now they are building a massive addition onto it at $30+ million called phase two, there is believe it or not a phase 3 in the works too.
Basically a retirement community for the local rural populations as they retire and move off the land, we have a University and a college along with cameras popping up everywhere to issue traffic tickets for the criminal offenders caught going a couple mph over the speed limit.
We don't even have one recreational center in the entire city the only outdoor pool was shuttered when it could have been redone last fall and finished this spring.
They also bought 30 million in junk bonds back in 2008 from a suspect bank in Ontario instad of investing it in Alberta. Now they are worth 10 cents on the dollar.
I'm so mad i can't see straight. I don't pay my taxes for them to blow it on more ways to lock down what little freedom i have left.
What a nightmare and right here on my doorstep.

Likely most of that money used to build up the police is through Homeland Security grants. For 10+ years now the DHS has been pumping money, weapons, equipment and supplies to local police forces across the nation. You're witnessing the full blown construction of the police state around you.

Unlikely that the U.S. supports these activities in Canada.

Only one law enforcer in this town, he is a contractor from elsewhere who started last week.....because of the dumping of junk in my property I have been calling him all morning for advice..........no answer, not even a recording......had this being an emergency I (or someone else) would be dead.........welcome to the NEW AMERICA.

My podunk area just got themselves a MRAP courtesy of the DoD. It's in for a paint job now.
The sheriff says that it won't be used in parades. I feel so much safer.
