I have said, yes I have seen those videos. So far I have seen thieves being denounced and crucified. A man denounced as a sorcerer who was decapitated. It depends on how YOU define "religion". I suspect that I would not agree with your definition. My comment was in reference to political movements and some religions / cults are political movements. Where false religions go astray is to make their goal the perpetual aggrandizement of the top leaders. I am not sure about what is happening in Iraq, but it feels like we are being pulled back to Iraq to serve someone else's purpose.

I see a spiritual difference between Christian civilization and Jewish/Islamic. True, there is a direct and very theologically important lineage from Judaism to Christianity. The only differences are in story line and delivery. Some Abrahamics walk to God, others meet him halfway, still others sit and wait for him to be delivered. All of them expect too much upon arrival.

The theology was adapted to fit the culture. Christmas is just a continuation of Roman Saturnalia/Midwinter solstice. In Northern Europe Roman Catholicism was rejected in favor of Protestantism, mainly because the imposed culture of Catholicism rubbed people the wrong way, people got along with it as long as they didn't have an alternative, once Martin Luther nailed his 99 thesis on the church door. They flocked to him... :) (I suppose that is an oversimplification). Supposedly the theology is the same (same book...) in theory, but in practice the difference is quite large...
