It had seemed to the four clean-cut college freshman that night like a typical McDonald’s: spanking clean, well-lighted, and safe. It was in a good neighborhood too, right next to Texas A&M University in College Station – a campus known for its friendly atmosphere and official down-home greeting: “howdy”


Out on a double date, the two couples pulled into the parking lot of so-called “University McDonald’s (https://www.google.com/maps/@30.622283,-96.341858,3a,75y,176.06h,80.32t/data=%213m4%211e1%213m2%211sx4SHvqbXtqf_9Na60mjB1Q %212e0)” shortly after 2 a.m. that Sunday – and beheld a scene unlike anything portrayed in all those wholesome McDonald’s television commercials. Before them, hundreds of young black males were loitering about, some without shirts.


Other local residents — the more cynical and world-weary, both whites and most blacks — would have taken one look at the crowd and driven off, dismissing many of the young and posturing black males as thugs. But not them: innocent white kids from the suburbs. They presumed this was post-racial America — and that they were in an easy-going college town.


Twenty minutes later, two of them were dead.

That story is sad as hell. Even a retired Marine just sat there and watched it all happen. I dont now about you guys, but my moral code says that if you sit there and watch someone getting beat, you are a COWARD! Even a fucking scared little child would run away and call for mommy and daddy (some times called 'Government'). I mean not even 1 person was armed? Not even 1 person had a phone? Hell someone could have driven their car into McDonalds and probably taken out 150 of these worthless dead souls, and the rest would have scattered like roaches...Just do SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!

The article also said that minutes before, another altercation took place where a black guy brandished a weapon, and the Manager just told him to leave. She is just as complacent. Pulling guns in a McDonalds is not acceptable unless it is to defend yourself against 400 NEGROES.

I feel bad for thew girl also she was dating him for 3 months, and now she is dead from driving crazy......So sad.

I don't think it was stupid, I think it was naive. These were kids, 18-19 years old. They are fearless, you don't think anything like this could happen to you at that age. You feel like you can conquer the world. Furthermore, with all the media covering and hiding black on white crimes...these kids just didn't realize the danger they were walking into.

They were kids. This is tragic, imo, very sad.

The double standard where this shit is not viewed as racism is BS. It pisses me off. Where are the riots and protests for these tragic deaths? Nothing, it's brushed over. Total BS. Makes me lose hope in humanity and just find an island somewhere tropical and tell the world to piss off.

I was stationed in the Caribbean in the 70s when 2-3 blacks machine gunned some golfers on St Croix. A CG helo was sent over from PR (the other Cuba) to hunt them out of the bush.

Could not agree more. Most parents depend on the daycare, preschool and on up the scale to educate their kids. If you actually see what they teach in public and you yourself not teach your kid what is really going on you are asking for a nut kick. My kid is bright as a bulb but has somewhat been dimmed down by the system.

Next one goes balls out into it and will probably be expelled by kindergartner for telling it like it is... LOL.

Reminds me of a time back in the 80's when two very white high school students I knew went to the Coliseum in south central LA to a Supercross event. Didn't get out till around midnight, and they had parked their car in the hood. They got robbed on the way back to it (2 bucks in her purse), and then got lost. A local resident helped them look for it. Suddenly, while walking down an alley, a shot from a .22 rifle come out of nowhere (turned out it was from the roof of an apartment building)... her boyfriend though she had tripped and fell, and went to help her up. Turns out she took the round to the back of the head. Died on the scene. She lived 4 houses down from me, in the OC in southern California.

Because of her (last) experience, I know that certain folks are to be avoided on their own turf, especially late at night, unless you want to end up as a statistic..

This was many years ago and I will NEVER forget it.
