Works out to about $2 a hamburger based on my LCS price of 16x face. Not bad.

Well in Australia they made a heap of 1966 50c in that year but soon found that the 80% silver was soon worth more than the coin.
Now the 50c coin has nearly 20$ worth of silver in it and this is after all the manipulation.
It shows just how much money has devalued over time .

No it doesn't. The coin weighs 13.28g and is 0.8 Ag, whick makes it a litlle over 1/3 of an oz, meaning it has a melt value of about $7, NOT $20. You are WAY off...The current accepted price for a round 50c is about $8 so there is a small numismatic premium attached.
There were 34 million minted in 1966 but only 14 million went into circulation, 60% of them never made it and were remelted.
It was a great coin, they only made them to convince the punters that decimal coinage was a good thing, they never had any intention to continue minting them IMO. They claim it was the silver price, which is true but it was a gimmick pure and simple.
I picked up a 1966 proof a couple of weeks back and have one from the 2006 proof coin set. Long live the round 50!

Late's BBQ (http://www.yelp.com/biz/lates-manitowoc) in Manitowoc, WI.
Some of the items are less than a dime, not sure how that works.

You have to plan your meal such that your grand total is right on the dime. Like, for lunch, one burger, soda and fries comes up to three silver dimes.
