I worked in cable TV/internet for over 15 years. We did electronics swap outs, amplifiers, line extenders and splitters, late at nite to early morning. I had exactly the same thing here in Turkey. Today at the bugout land the closest strike was around 200 meters, but there were many within a kilometer (3 secs), but we had thunder Friday afternoon and yesterday too. I dont think i can recall having lightning storms three days in a row...

Funny thing was I was thinking that I felt more exposed alone at the bugout land compared to what I would do in Istanbul or another populated place. I figured if Thor wanted to punish someone, he would find plenty of offenders among the 20 or so million people of Istanbul, but there he only had me to pick, further my house is near the top of the hill. But other higher peaks are around. Amazing sound effects though!

Rare meteorite impact causes blast in Nicaragua's capital, Managua

Managua: A mysterious explosion that rocked Nicaragua's crowded capital Managua, creating a large crater, appears to have been caused by a small meteorite.
Amazingly, in a sprawling city of 1.2 million people, the impact near the international airport did not cause any known injuries, but it did leave a crater measuring 12 metres across and was felt throughout the capital late on Saturday night, local time.

Nicaraguan authorities believe it was a piece of the small asteroid dubbed "2014 RC", which passed very close to Earth on Sunday and was estimated by astronomers to be about 20 metres wide, or the size of a house.

For the last 40 years in the American Southwest, dust storms like Saturday’s in Phoenix have been steadily on the rise, according to a University of Colorado study (http://www.colorado.edu/news/releases/2013/06/10/amount-dust-blown-across-west-increasing-says-cu-boulder-study) published last year and funded by the National Science Foundation. The increases in dust, according to the study, can be attributed to a combination of factors — more storms with high winds, more drought, land use changes, and even more construction projects.
At least one peer-reviewed paper (http://www.pnas.org/content/108/10/3854.abstract?sid=deda2fff-86be-49bc-8b8d-3222f74c8115) has suggested that as temperatures rise in the Southwest due to climate change, more dust could be created. Alyson Kenward described it well for Climate Central (http://www.climatecentral.org/blogs/climate-change-and-the-phoenix-dust-cloud-whats-the-connection): “Hotter average temperatures mean the region could become even drier than it is already, making it harder for perennial grasses and plants to thrive. Without these grasses to keep the soil intact, it’s a lot easier for wind to pick the dust up off the ground.”
As for extreme precipitation and flooding events, scientists more readily agree (http://www.ipcc.ch/publications_and_data/ar4/wg1/en/ch10s10-3-6-1.html) that those can be made worse by climate change.
The way this happens is relatively simple: As carbon dioxide is emitted from burning fossil fuels and destroying tropical forests, it traps heat in the atmosphere. As the trapped heat raises the planet’s average temperature, the heat evaporates water from the ocean and soil, putting moisture into the air.
As global temperatures rise, the atmosphere then holds more moisture — about 4 percent more per degree of temperature increase (http://www.ucsusa.org/news/press_release/climate-change-heavy-rain-flooding-0540.html). Therefore there is more water vapor available to fall as rain, snow, or hail when storms occur.

That one must have come straight down, as the impact crater looks completely round and there is no surrounding damage, it could maybe explain why people didn't see any fireball coming at 10 km/s it would have travelled the entire atmosphere in a second and wouldn't had time to heat up that much plus it is ultra fast, possibly someone looking straight up could had detected it, but how many do you see looking straight up in the sky, maybe one in a hundred thousand at any given moment? Maybe some metal chunk from the sun solidifying on its way to earth from the CME even?

Really? That must be some type of world record latitude wise... When I was in Svalbard at midwinter solstice I thought I may have seen aurora too, but after I figured it may have been the sun lighting up some high clouds at noon giving it a bluish hue even though it was 12° below horizon...
