I've been battling these little bastards for a few days now. This has to be one of the most annoying problems to deal with. I cleaned the heck of the place, there's absolutely no food out, and I thought I had them licked...until this morning. They were everywhere. I have no idea where they are breeding.

I made a couple of traps for them using the advise at this link. It's working, they are getting stuck in the trap. Thought I'd share this info if you ever have to deal with this.

Welcome to the club, been a running battle here with gnats, irritating little bastards, seem to collect near and in sinks and such. They are abt 1/16" long.

Good luck with the contest!

So far here it is a running draw, have a spray bottle with a mix of water and dishsoap at hand to knock them out of the air and then deal a horrifying death to them! Next trip to the store (keep forgetting it)will pick up some wine and or apple vinegar, know reg vinegar does not work.

Make sure you don't have a leak in your home causing wet wood in your wall or floor. We dealt with little gnats for months before we determined we had a leak in our shower and they were coming from the wet wood sheathing under the tile. We had to tear the whole shower out to fix it.

Do you have house plants? They can come from the potting soil. These called fungus gnats.

Here's a really good article on stylemepretty.com, the General's favorite website. Lists different types of baits used, and how effective they are. I'm going to try wine a bit later.

My most effective trap has been to fill a Caucasian colored cereal bowl with water, some apple cider vinegar, a little sugar, and a drop or two of liquid dish soap. You'll never get all of them, but many will drown in the solution. They're fatally attracted to the stuff. The soap eliminates water surface tension, and the sugary vinegary water replicates rotting fruit. Oh, and for some reason they're more attracted to a white bowl than a dark one.
Not that I'm a bowl racist or anything. I apologize if I've offended anyone.

I hate when I take a deep breath and inhale one up inside my nostril.

It's pretty bad in hitchland, this really sucks. They seem to swarm in the morning, then when that battle is over, a new one begins in the early evening. Just when I think I've got these SOB's beat, they pop up again.

I'm about ready to drop the A bomb on their asses. A bug bomb, bomb the whole boat. We'll see how these bastards like that. It's a war!!!!
