What is it about bagpipes. To me, the pipes are the most ominous instrument, sound, out there. Fire dept, police. Bagpipes start playing and I stand to attention.

Pipes make the hair on me stand up. I honor fallen brothers as soon as those pipes play. It's like a trance. No thought whatever, bizarre.

It's like bagpipes are the ultimate in programming and controlling the masses. Bagpipes.

Here you go Hitch...hope you like this. Thought of this video after reading your post.
I like seeing not so ordinary instruments play ordinary music (if you call AC/DC ordinary music)
I'm a banjo blue grass kind of guy myself.

7th, I like the banjo too but I don't expect a normal guy like yourself to understand.

There is something different with pipes. That is all I can say at this time.

Its the missing link between noise and music. If you like bagpipes then you'll love the hurdy gurdy...

Infinitely more beautiful than the aural excrement that pollutes the air in most of the Western world!

The bagpipes "speak" to the soul of not only a Scot, but all White, European men & women.

Bagpipes are played in many European countries. In Spain, France, even Bulgaria has its version of a bagpipe. India has the Shennai, which is a flute that sounds a lot like the bagpipe. That frequency and harmonics that bagpipes operate in plucks the strings of the soul in all humans. The Scots play Scotland The Brave wherever they march, and everyone knows the tune. Makes you forget that they are a bunch of murdering marauders.

Bagpipes have been used for centuries to rally the troops and instill fear in the enemy! I cant help but feel the hairs rising on the back on my highlander neck when the pipes begin to play! They strike deep into my soul! You are not alone Hitch!

Like the sound of chalk squeaking on a blackboard? ;)

Have mixed feelings abt the pipes, tho some music/drudges and marches are just not right without them!

They occupy a nitch all their own!
