The CDC has confirmed the first Ebola case diagnosed in the U.S. in the Dallas area.
Health officials had been awaiting test results on a patient at a Dallas hospital.

Officials at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital said the patient is being kept in isolation until preliminary results come back Tuesday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 12 other people in the U.S. have been tested for Ebola since July 27. Those tests came back negative.

Hospital officials said in a statement that the latest patient's symptoms and recent travel indicated a possible case of Ebola. The virus has killed more than 3,000 people in West Africa and infected a handful of Americans who traveled to that region.

Presbyterian Hospital officials say they're following CDC recommendations to keep doctors, staff and patients safe.

I read that book The Hot Zone and it paints a picture of Ebola being an awful disease where the patient basically bleeds out to death. With the thousands of cases since Feb I haven't seen any pictures of bloody eyed patients, just people looking like they have the flu until they die. They say Ebola can only be contacted through bodily fluids yet people are catching the disease by sharing a taxi cab and more importantly, doctors and nurses are becoming infected even after taking precautions such as wearing the space suits, masks and gloves. The whole thing is fishy and now it's here and it's not going away anytime soon. Why would a disease which has only historically infected middle and eastern Africa all of a sudden magically appear in western Africa? They blame it on bush meat but I don't buy that. This smells more like agenda 21 eugenics to me.

Roads?

Air travel?

Both are viable, and all conspiracy's be dammed it is real and anyone with one cell that they treasure and call a brain, that has followed Ebola over the last 20 years from the time it was first described knew it was a "Pandora box" just waiting to explode upon the greater world. Truty be known they are not sure of the vector and where it came from ,but monkeys are at the top of the list. And those people dam near eat anything that has 2, 8 and four legs, along with what swims and has wings, for the protein!

Now it is 95 miles west of me, knocking at the door, this one can be blamed on air travel.

Carry on, that is my dos centavos, not to interfere with anyone's fantasy's.

Ebola is, indeed, an hemorrhagic fever, but those effects are minimal to non-existent in some patients. Mostly, it looks like very intense flu.

I believe, as many others do, that Ebola was manufactured by USAMRIID at Ft. Detrick, MD, in the 1970s. This outbreak may be a new strain deployed, or the old ones merely coming into maturity.

Containment has clearly failed, and probably deliberately.

The biggest risk right now to your son is Enterovirus 68, which is nothing to laugh at considering it's putting kids in the ICU, and some are apparently developing paralysis from it. Ebola is trailing behind, but it will arrive to a location near you soon enough.

Embarrassed for being a cautious parent? Fu*k whoever doesn't like it! It will get kids talking about what's coming. I'm sorry your son will have to bear the burden, but his misery is heroic - remind him of that.

hemorrhagic fever is close to what my kid had but his was due to vaccines, anytime he caught a virus platelets would crash causing bleeding. Treatments failed and I had to put on my thinking cap. There are many herbs to help and some do remedy. If bleeding is occurring make aggrimonia tea to stop it, plantain to build platelets, TawaTawa tea is supposed to stop the infection and bleeding also and we had good luck with it, etc etc. we are ready.

Rather than Hibiclens (chlorhexidine gluconate), I recommend rubbing alcohol, iodine solutions, bleach (plain Clorox), and hydrogen peroxide, since we will be dealing with virus particles, and less so bacteria. If this ends up pandemic in America, self-isolation will be your best defense. You will want to minimize - if possible, eliminate - contact with anyone. We are, indeed, quite some time away from pandemic here, but if it mutates...

One if this come to roost, store as much bleach as you can, if you think you have enough, you will be wrong. For washing, and wiping down it will kill it and sanitize, they use it to spray down areas and rooms.

If you think you have enough, you are only kidding yourself...But I would not go nuts about it unless it to your area/town and then double down.

Will CDC Activate Emergency Measures After Ebola Confirmed in US?

Posted September 30, 2014 3:06 pm by PatriotRising with 0 comments

Provisions would allow for quarantine of “well persons” who “do not show symptoms” of virus

ebola-hazmat

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Confirmation that the first case of Ebola has arrived in the United States will prompt questions as to whether the CDC will enact emergency procedures that could see even healthy Americans detained against their will.

The Centers for Disease Control confirmed today that an Ebola victim was admitted to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Reference to the patient’s “recent travel history” suggests that the victim arrived from one of the African countries hit by the virus.

The patient has been held in “strict isolation” and the hospital is “complying with all recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and the Texas Department of Health to ensure the safety of other patients and medical staff,” according to WFAA.

In an understandable effort to prevent hysteria, the CDC has been reticent to release too many details about its preparations for a potential Ebola outbreak inside the United States, although plans currently on the record allow for the quarantine of “well persons” as well as those who “do not show symptoms” of the virus.

The official CDC website details ‘Specific Laws and Regulations Governing the Control of Communicable Diseases’, under which even healthy citizens who show no symptoms of Ebola whatsoever would be forcibly quarantined at the behest of medical authorities.

“Quarantine is used to separate and restrict the movement of well persons who may have been exposed to a communicable disease to see if they become ill. These people may have been exposed to a disease and do not know it, or they may have the disease but do not show symptoms,” states the CDC (emphasis mine).

Last month, former FDA official Scott Gottlieb, M.D. wrote in Forbes that the CDC will invoke powers to “hold a healthy person against his will” in the event of an Ebola outbreak, warning that the feds may assume “too much jurisdiction to detain people involuntarily,” leading to “spooky scenarios where people could be detained for long periods, merely on a suspicion they might have been exposed to some pathogen. And forced to submit to certain medical interventions to gain their freedom.”

An executive order signed by President Obama at the end of July also allows for the “apprehension, detention, or conditional release of individuals to prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of suspected communicable diseases.”

As we reported earlier today, the CDC has also instructed funeral homes to prepare for Ebola victims, telling workers not to embalm corpses or carry out autopsies.

Ebola and Enterovirus 68 at the same time with the usual influenza season is going to cause pandemonium in the health care industry. This looks like the proverbial Perfect Storm even if the diseases don't go pandemic with mass casualties. Early symptoms are similar. I imagine most hospitals will operate on "lockdown," with intense security screening for visitors and most visitors turned away. That happened in some cases when it was just the flu in the past years.

The Dallas Fire Rescue EMS crew that transported the patient Sunday morning took all safety precautions and has been quarantined according to CDC and Dallas County Health guidelines.

The City is working closely with Dallas County Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control after the unnamed patient at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas was confirmed to have the virus at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The person moved to Dallas from Liberia a week ago.

August 12th: If Ebola Arrives In The U.S., Stopping It May Rely On Controversial Tools

http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottgottlieb/2014/08/12/if-ebola-arrives-in-america-some-controversial-tools-could-be-used-to-stop-it/

These federal powers comprise a set of rules that gives CDC sweeping authority to hold and isolate Americans in a public health emergency. These authorities haven’t been fully updated in decades. They’ve only been amended in piecemeal fashion to deal with modern threats like SARS and MERS. In advance of what may be a very public test of these powers, the collected scheme deserves closer scrutiny.

Updated quarantine regulations were first proposed in 2005 during the Bush Administration amid fears of pandemic flu. The regulations spelled out in detail how CDC would exercise its sweeping powers to involuntarily confine sick individuals and those believed to be exposed to certain deadly and contagious diseases. The rules also focused efforts on quarantine at airports. Among other things, it held airlines responsible for keeping records to help health officials track down people coming off flights, in the event they would need to be located later for quarantine.

The set of regulations also included a new “provisional quarantine” rule that would have allowed CDC to detain people involuntarily for up to three days, with no mechanism for appeal. CDC had to believe a person was infected with certain pathogens. Among the diseases included were pandemic flu, infectious tuberculosis, plague, cholera, SARS, diphtheria, and viral hemorrhagic fevers such as Ebola.

The regulations also defined “ill person” to include anyone with the signs or symptoms commonly associated with the diseases in question. This gave CDC more flexibility in deciding whom to quarantine by capturing a broader and earlier range of symptoms as the basis for holding an individual. It allowed for greater exercise of discretion public health officials and those staffing quarantine stations.

Most of the time, Yes. And that's certainly what the Jew terrorists try to create (panic amongst Gentiles.)

BUT - this version of Ebola is serious. Movie-quality in the sense of presenting a case that never seems to diminish in urgency.

Is it true that the number of cases is continuing to increase exponentially ?

Anyway, I can't help but wonder about the effect it would have if this creates a 'Rubicon' incident. For example, a clamp-down on travel in the US.

Since the US already has heavy travel restrictions, via 9-11 & DHS & TSA and, in this case, CDC, I wonder if they would try to contain Ebola sort of silently, just folding it into DHS operations.

Or go for the 'Grand Effect'.

Authorities say five students who had contact with a man diagnosed with Ebola in Dallas are being monitored but are showing no symptoms of the disease.

...

As an added precaution, Miles says additional health and custodial staff will be at the five schools the students attend.

The five children, who possibly had contact with Mr. Duncan at a home over the weekend, attended five different schools, which authorities said would remain open. As a precaution, they said all the schools — including one high school, one middle school, and three elementary schools — would undergo a thorough cleaning.

Top doc: 'Several people were exposed,' more will be infected by Dallas Ebola case

http://washingtonexaminer.com/top-doc-several-people-were-exposed...more-will-be-infected-by-dallas-ebola-case/article/2554213

A former Food and Drug Administration chief scientist and top infectious disease specialist said that several people were exposed to the Ebola virus by the unidentified patient in Dallas, America’s first case, and it’s likely that many more will be infected.

Dr. Jesse L. Goodman, now a professor of medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center, said while the nation shouldn’t panic, it’s best to prepare for the worst.

“It is quite appropriate to be concerned on many fronts,” he said in a statement provided to Secrets. “First, it is a tragedy for the patient and family and, as well, a stress to contacts, health care workers and the community at large. Second, it appears several people were exposed before the individual was placed in isolation, and it is quite possible that one or more of his contacts will be infected,” he added.

People with closer ties to the survivalist retail world, though say they do expect to see some kind of sales bump. Amazon does not give actual sales figures.)

Mac Slavo

Less than 24 hours after the first US-based Ebola infection was confirmed in Dallas, TX it is being reported that another individual who had contact with Patient Zero is now in strict isolation and being tested for possible infection.

Dallas health officials are now monitoring another person who they fear may have Ebola after coming into contact with the infected man currently being treated in Dallas, Texas.

“Let me be real frank to the Dallas County residents: the fact that we have one confirmed case, there may be another case that is a close associate with this particular patient,” Dallas County Health and Human Services Director Zachary Thompson said Wednesday in an interview with local ABC affiliate WFAA. “So this is real.”

“There should be a concern, but it’s contained to the specific family members and close friends at this moment.”

Via Infowars

According to a developing story linked via Drudge Report, there is a serious possibility that school-aged children have been exposed to the first infected individual. Those children are also being monitored for the virus in isolation units.

Contagion model researchers have previously warned that Ebola was only a plane ride away and that it could potentially infect hundreds of thousands of people in coming weeks and months, and millions by next year. Now it’s here and the American public has no real idea of the extent of the exposure. Moreover, there are thousands of people in Africa with the virus and it continues to spread, so it’s quite possible that more infections unrelated to Dallas will soon show up in major transportation hubs like Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Paris, London, and Shanghai.

We urge readers to continue to monitor the situation, especially in their local and regional areas and take appropriate actions should it become necessary.

Note: Numerous preparedness tips, strategies and supply lists have been researched and developed over the last several months from the preparedness community. Links to some of these have been provided below. Please feel free to share any relevant material and information in the comment section.

Ebola in America – The Deadly Implications October 1, 2014 by John Little - OmegaShock.com | 0 comments (http://www.omegashock.com/2014/10/01/ebola-in-america-the-deadly-implications/#respond)
So, Ebola has finally arrived. I’m not surprised, and you probably aren’t, either. But, there are a few things that you might not be aware of.
For instance, you might not know that:

Ebola is MORE contagious in colder climates, in the winter - than in areas where the outbreak occurred.

It is AT LEAST as contagious as Influenza A.

It takes an amazingly small amount of the Ebola virus to infect you.

They’ve been lying to you about this virus.

The first case was confirmed as Ebola yesterday. A Liberian dude helped the sick in Liberia, flew to Belgium, then Dallas. Went into the ER on 9/26, and was sent home. Came back by ambulance on 9/28, and he, and the paramedic crew, are now in quarantine. Several others, including five school kids at five different schools, are being tested.

She starts off with the already demonstrated lie that "Ebola (the family of viruses) is patented."

She alleges "proof" that Gates is behind all of this, yet offers no "proof" other than the fact his mountain of money has funded some of the research by some of the researchers.

Unfortunately, this gal is just another airhead with a YouTube channel using sensational claims to increase her viewers.

If you want to find the source of Ebola (and HIV/AIDS), look at the United States Government, and its United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID). They had the means in the 1970s, and plenty of funding, to create it, and initially spread it. Bill Gates did not. They also have the means to make it worse today - and the US Army is already admittedly on the ground in West Africa.

Sometimes I think people like this gal are willful managed disinformation personnel, spreading bullshit like this in order to confuse and divert.

Indeed it is, but what you posted is not proof of it.

That patent is not even for a primary Ebola family strain. It is a single cousin strain, sometimes not even considered "true" Ebola - Ebola Bundibugyo, originally and often still just Bundibugyo.

Further, Ebola has been around since at least 1977. This patent was issued in 2012.

Please read - and understand - the actual patent, rather than just swallowing what some disinformation kook spews on an obscure website!

Family of Texas Ebola patient ordered to stay home, comply with blood tests

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2014/10/02/family-of-texas-ebola-patient-ordered-to-stay-home-comply-with-blood-tests/

Citing "an abundance of caution," Texas and Dallas County health officials ordered four close family members of hospitalized Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan to remain home and not see any visitors to prevent the spread of the disease.

The order was hand-delivered to the family at the Ivy Apartments, in northeast Dallas, on Wednesday night and legally requires the four relatives of Duncan to stay home until at least Oct. 19.

"The order is in place until the incubation period has passed and the family is no longer at risk of having the disease," a news release from Dallas health officials said. The family must also provide blood samples, agree to any other testing and report any symptoms to the Dallas County Health and Human Services Department immediately, including any fever above 100.5 degrees, headache, nausea, diarrhea or abdominal pain.

Texas Orders Family Of Ebola Patient To Stay Home

The state of Texas and Dallas County health officials have ordered four close family members of a Dallas Ebola patient to stay home and not have visitors to prevent spreading the deadly disease.

If ignored, a violation could result in criminal charges.

Officials made the announcement on Thursday, saying the order is out of an “abundance of caution”.

“We have tried and true protocols to protect the public and stop the spread of this disease,” said Dr. David Lakey, Texas health commissioner. “This order gives us the ability to monitor the situation in the most meticulous way.”

Ebola 'could become airborne': United Nations warns of 'nightmare scenario' as virus spreads to the US

There is a ‘nightmare’ chance that the Ebola virus could become airborne if the epidemic is not brought under control fast enough, the chief of the UN’s Ebola mission has warned.

Anthony Banbury, the Secretary General’s Special Representative, said that aid workers are racing against time to bring the epidemic under control, in case the Ebola virus mutates and becomes even harder to deal with.

“The longer it moves around in human hosts in the virulent melting pot that is West Africa, the more chances increase that it could mutate,” he told the Telegraph. “It is a nightmare scenario [that it could become airborne], and unlikely, but it can’t be ruled out.”

Two days after a man in Texas was diagnosed with Ebola, a Missouri doctor Thursday morning boarded a plane at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport dressed in full protection gear to protest what he called mismanagement of the crisis by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Gil Mobley checked in and cleared airport security wearing a mask, goggles, gloves, boots and a hooded white jumpsuit emblazoned on the back with the words, “CDC is lying!”

“If they’re not lying, they are grossly incompetent,” said Mobley, a microbiologist and emergency trauma physician from Springfield, Mo.

Mobley said the CDC is “sugar-coating” the risk of the virus spreading in the United States.

“Three days after the fact,” an exasperated Aklinski stated, “I had to demand exposure testing and they are reporting following up with all the people in the ambulance??? Bull crap!!! They haven’t even followed up with the ten firefighters that were on duty Sunday.”

I am not going to freak out about this ebola. Lotsa fear mongering going on.

Perhaps. Fatigue from crises - both real and invented - has reduced peoples' receptivity to warnings. Usually, when a tornado warning is announced, most people just go on about their business, being fatigued from what they regard as "false alarms" in past seasons. Then the tornado actually destroys the town, this time.

We are long overdue for a planetary pandemic ala 1918. We have such hubris about the "excellence of our modern medicine." Perhaps Ebola will burn out, as it has every time since 1977. But this time it's much bigger than before. The more infections, the more opportunities for Ebola to mutate to a more-highly-contagious form, even airborne.

Should we live in total anxiety from this point forth, wondering when our eyes will start bleeding? Of course not. But we should use this as an opportunity to check & recheck our biohazard-oriented emergency supplies, and, pay attention to any new developments that occur. In a month, if there are no more cases in the United States, great. Another "false alarm."

Or...

Family Of U.S. Ebola Carrier Moves Into Donated Home

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins personally escorted the family of Ebola carrier Thomas Duncan to a 4 bedroom spacious home in a gated community Friday. It’s where they will live, miles away from their cramped apartment in Dallas while under quarantine.

“I’m wearing the same shirt I was when I was in the car for 45 minutes today with that family,” said Jenkins about the car ride. “If there was any risk, I wouldn’t expose myself or my family,” he said during Friday’s press conference where city and county leaders called the move necessary.

I am far less worried about the Ebola pandemic which I do believe is a very real possibility vs what it will do to the public psyche. If I get it and die from it, so be it. At the most, I think it could kill off around 10% of world population, huge numbers of course, but as has been pointed out it has happened before and life went on. However previously most of the population was involved in agriculture to feed themselves, they figured they had to continue working, and their work didn't necessarily involve meeting a lot of other people on a daily basis. Nowadays getting a steak to your table probably involves a chain of a 1000 people that needs to work to get that steak in your house, including transporters providers of fuel electricity retailers butchers packaging, if a few of those people decide to stay at home instead of going to work their job could be handled by someone else in their respective companies, but when 20-30% don't go to work the chain starts being dysfunctional, with 50% it has stopped working completely, and it applies to everything not just steak. Gimmedats (good word actually) and Looties will not be happy= total breakdown of societal order. This is the main reason to stay away from civilization during a deadly pandemic, it won't be like 1918 or 1349, it will be way, way worse...

That is probably one of the most insane things I have ever read if true! The logical disconnect is just astonishing!
