Yep. In common law abandoned property is a public nuisance to be abated. You put it in a pen and put out a legal notice for the owner to claim it and pay expenses within a month and then you can put it in the freezer. This one though looks like it might be ready to drop a calf.

This should be a word of caution to anyone who might think about abandoning anything. If something is abandoned then anyone might take it up and abate the nuisance.

For people who choose to participate in a bankrupt system ... have they abandoned solvency? What property does a bankrupt actually own?
