Yikes! Yup they are out there. On one trip, I had the bright idea of bleeding my catch and leaving them on a stringer in the water. While motoring back in, I looked behind me to see a fin right behind the boat following me. Turns out she was a small curious dolphin but that split second scared the piss out of me. I don't leave my catch on a stringer anymore, out of the water and into the cooler they go.

Something to think about when reeling them in. Good idea to not drag the bleeding catch behind the boat.

Friend of mine knows a guy who went kayak fishing and hooked a fish that was taken by an estimated 9-10 foot shark that took him for a ride out the channel before the guy got scared and cut the line.

Note: don't go fishing in a kayak in waters where predators are bigger than the kayak.
