Dozens of family and friends attended a rally Monday at the Laurens County Courthouse in support of David Hooks.

He's the man who was shot to death by Laurens deputies during a raid at his home on Sept. 24.

"This will not be our last rally. We will not let people forget about this," Attorney Catherine Bernard said at the rally.

State Rep. Sam Moore (R) of Cherokee County attended the rally in support of Hooks. He told the crowd about the bill he introduced in the legislature to end no-knock warrants. He said it didn't get enough support.

Some of the speakers expressed a growing concern about the militarization of law enforcement and authorities acting on bad tips, such as the judge who signed the warrant to search Hooks' home.

"The lies of this case are too big to conceal. We are determined to reveal them," said Attorney Mitchell Shook, a Vidalia lawyer representing Hooks' family.

Unanswered questions are part of the reason they're protesting. With law enforcement not releasing any more information due to the investigation underway, supporters say they're left to speculate.

"We're here to question who is this judge that's issuing these warrants. Is he not to be held responsible for his actions" said one of the protesters.

Although the sheriff's department will not comment, the Hooks family lawyer Mitch Shook has been vocal.

He says the drug search warrant filed by the drug task force gave misleading information. It originally stated that the raid was based on information from a burglary suspect, Rodney Garrett, who turned himself in. Shook says that is false.

"He did not turn himself in, he was arrested in his mother's home. He did not know he was going to be arrested when he was arrested" said Shook

He obtained a copy of the police report that states Garrett was arrested and brought to the sheriff's office for questioning.

Laurens County Sheriff Bill Harrell has not released any names of the deputies involved, nor has he granted any interviews about the case that's gaining national attention.

Shook released some findings on the case last week alleging:

Sixteen shell casings were found inside the Hooks home and one outside -- indicating that at least one shot was fired before deputies entered the home.

Shook claims that one officer who took part in the raid posted on social media that "his critics are 'idiots,' and that he is not bothered at all by this event."

Shook's statement concludes, "Why can't the elected Sheriff give his constituents some much needed answers to this tragedy."

There's a real deadly virus that has spread through this country...and it's not Ebola.
I can't imagine how many people are out there waiting for society to collapse for pay back.
How many family members of the lost one's are waiting too?

Protests will not stop it. Gunfire might.
