Its Ohio-based creators claim it can safely cook hot dogs, eight egg omelettes, frozen foods, fish fillets, muffins, stirfrys and even raw meat
The device is 2ft (0.6 metres) long and 2.25 inches (5.7cm) in diameter
Core to the technology of the GoSun Stove is the solar evacuated tube
When clouds interrupt, the food keeps on cooking with the heat stored
A 'GoSun Sport' costs £175 ($280), while a 'GoSun Mini' costs £80 ($128)

You have great weather, good company and a table full of food waiting to be cooked – if only your disposable barbecue would get going.
Tired of prodding coals, a group of entrepreneurs has created an outdoor stove that can cook a meal in just 10 minutes using nothing but the sun's rays.
The gadget, known as the GoSun Stove, absorbs heat from the sun to reach temperatures of over 290°C (554°F).

Hot stuff: Tired of prodding coals, a group of entrepreneurs has created an outdoor stove that can cook a meal in just 10 minutes using nothing but the sun's rays

In each batch, the gadget can cook enough food to feed up to four people.
Matt Gillespie, an industrial and social designer working at GoSun Stove, explained how the idea was born.

Compact: The device is 2ft (0.6 metres) long and 2.25 inches (5.7cm) in diameter and can handle more than three pounds (1.4kg) of food or fluid

The 24-year-old said: 'It was all started by Patrick Sherwin, the GoSun Stove's inventor and company founder.
'He was removing a roof mounted solar hot water heating system, using the same tube technology as the GoSun, to replace it with an updated system.
HOW DOES IT WORK? The gadget, known as the GoSun Stove, absorbs heat from the sun to reach temperatures of over 290°C (554°F).
The core to the technology of the GoSun Stove is the solar evacuated tube that acts as the stove's cooking chamber.
It absorbs absorb more than 80 per cent of the sunlight that's reflected onto the tube.
When clouds interrupt, the food keeps on cooking with the heat stored inside the vacuum tube

'While up on the roof, he noticed that that the tubes were remarkably hot on the inside, despite the cloudy weather.
'His curiosity got the best of him and he dropped a hotdog into the tube.
'With that lunch sizzling 10 minutes later, the dream was born.'

Mr Gillespie, from Cincinnati, Ohio, added: 'It's profoundly efficient and a game-changer for fuel-free cooking.
'When clouds interrupt, the food keeps on cooking with the heat stored inside the vacuum tube.
'For this same reason the GoSun is extremely versatile, cooking hot meals in the harshest of environments.
'Even against freezing temperatures and blowing winds, the GoSun's cooking time is hardly effected.
'We love to see people's reactions when we're roasting garlic, or steaming veggies on a mostly overcast day.'
A 'GoSun Sport' costs £175 ($280), while a 'GoSun Mini' costs £80 ($128).
The 'GoSun Sport Pro Pack' includes a padded carrying case, an extra cooking tray and spoon and costs £225 ($360).

You can buy these sun light absorbing vacuum tubes on ebay for like 10 for 99.00 with free shipping.
Make it yourself with some shiny sheet metal.
Appears this guy has stole some ones idea....they've been around for a few years now.

Amazing thing as there is no wood to chop , power to plug in, gas to turn on ect.........looks like it could keep working for a long time , have to get one too. For that remote place .....WOW.

Thats the thing you never knew you needed one until it was invented..........

And then the poorer countries also........some places have no more trees hardly ,India for instance.

sweet, had no idea, off to check...

Bought a few boxes to make a solar boiler to heat the garage.
Theres talk of a design change so that both ends are open to pass air through for a passive heating system.
I decided to wait until this new design comes out to make a 270 degree passive heating system for the house.

It'll boil water in minutes....watch the video on my ebay link. He demonstrates a 20 inch tube boiling water in minutes...and he has the best price on ebay.
Youtube has a bunch of video's showing how to make a water boiler using these.

I don't have any video's...but youtube has many.

The beer can passive heating system is also a good idea I like and have tried. The beer can design does work, but the vacuum tube system is far more efficient.
My idea was to incorporate the beer can system into the vacuum system when the design change comes...if it comes.
The beer cans would preheat the air and then flow into the vacuum tubes to reach the high temperatures and use a variable fan system as a thermostat.
The hotter the air gets the faster the air flow until the temperature reaches desired temp and then the air flow would slow down or speed up to maintain desired temp.
All of course powered by solar cells....off grid heating system....as long as the sun is shining.

Make a solar cooker using a one way mirrow and you will be surprised.....also a water heater using the same principal......the heat (sun rays) will go in and bounce back with the inside mirrow.

Just figured you could make a solar powered coffee machine with one of those tubes. Just put a cork at the end of the tube insert a thin metal pipe that goes to the bottom of the vacuum tube, bend the pipe so it drips down in a coffee filter. As water is heated it creates steam pressure and that presses the hot water up the pipe to the coffee filter...
Alternatively one could make an Italian press thingy on top of the tube... If one wants coffee after dark, you make it before sunset and pure it back in the vacuum tube, where it will keep warm...
Put a semicircular reflector behind it, and you may even be able to make coffee on a day with light clouds...
