Imura was arrested in May after police searched his home. They were alerted when he posted blueprints of the weapons online with the accompanying message: "The right to bear firearms is a basic human right."

As global governments decide how to best deal with this wave of technological concern, Japan has already made a clear statement.

When Japanese police arrested Yoshitomo Imura for printing his own revolvers, 3D printing advocates in some circles were up in arms. The guns, which only fired blanks, were simple test models called the Zig-Zag. Now, in honor of Imura’s work in 3D printing, a CAD designer has created a newer, better gun that could be used to fire real bullets. The designer, who calls himself WarFairy, is part of a team of creators called Free Open Source Software & Computer Aided Design. He has begun Tweeting images of the gun, adding it to an already impressive arsenal of models.

Faaaaaaaaaaaake. Nice recoil simulation... clearly pulling his arm back. I got to 1:03 in the video and not once was any bullet impact shown.

I wonder what the charge will be. for making it or failing to register it?

I think you're mistaken. That pistol is so light it snaps back sharp and quickly, no way anyone could make the muscles in their arm move like that.

My question is how does one acquire ammo in Japan?

I've handled firearms enough to know what natural recoil looks like, and that ain't it.
