Damn i miss him, i thought i was tough.

We were fortunate to get a heads up as he started throwing up at 5am yesterday, woke me up.

24 hours later he was gone, he gave out a couple of howls at 4am this morning then an hour later a couple more to let us know he was close, 5 minutes later he was gone.

RIP boy, you are truly loved and will be missed so much.

He's gone but never forgotten.

Sorry to hear that. How old was he? Do you have any idea what he died of? Old age?

Yep, he would have been 15 in 5 more days but over a 24 hour period out of nowhere, just like that.

His brother is wondering around the house totally lost now but he was there with us too so he knows.

Damn this really sucks. He was more than just our dog, he was family.

Thanx midnight rambler, thanx dogman.

I am so sorry! There is no greater loss than the loss of the loyal and affectionate friend. Love them while you can... they are not here long enough! I feel for you buddy! I do! Remember the good times... the bad times will melt away in time.

since I have been house sitting for about 4 years now, when I move out of a house to go to the next one, I always feel sad when I have to say bye to the pets/whatever animals I had to take care of... so I can imagine the loss you feel OS.

Be happy he went fast and did not suffer for a long time.
I hope that's how my 13 yr old goes

I've really bonded with my parent's dog (can't have one myself). Whenever I visit, whenever the little guy greets me brings true joy. Dogs bring true happiness in life.

Old Steel, very sorry to hear about your loss. Sudden losses like that are tough beyond words.

Thanks General of Darkness. He was a Jack Russell terrier. My son named him Bulldog and he definitely lived up to his name.

Very territorial, really awesome markings.

Kind of fitting he crossed over on Devils day.

Thanks Hitch. Yup here one day gone the next. Lost so many dogs over time. It's actually harder now cause back in the day dad always brought home a new dog right after.

No new dog now but we do have his younger brother, hopefully for awhile longer.

Sorry for your loss. Losing that unconditional love leaves a gaping hole in your life. Time will eventually bring smiles instead of tears.

Sorry about that Steel........I call my dog a useless fat ass of a dog but he is a good dog, but I never let him in the house, he has his insulate headed dog house.

By the way, fat ass dog is also a Jack Russell terrier......fun to see him waggle his 1/2 tail hahahahahah......his real name is DOG, very original.

Hey that's awesome Ponce.

So on Tuesday i was wrestling with him in the entrance and our heads smacked hard right above my right eye.

Just now my daughters said that i have a bruised eye lid so i checked.

When closed the eye lid is totally black and purple, lol.

May I go now?
Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain filled days*
and endless lonely nights?

I've lived my life and done my best,
An example tried to be.
So can I take that step beyond
And set my spirit free?

I didn't want to go at first,
I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now
To a warm and loving light.

I want to go. I really do.
It's difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can
to live just one more day.

To give you time to care for me
And share your love and fears.
I know you're sad and afraid,
because I see your tears

.I'll not be far, I promise that,
And hope you'll always know
That my spirit will be close to you
wherever you may go.

Thank you so for loving me.
You know I love you, too.
That's why it's hard to say goodbye
and end this life with you.

So hold me now just one more time
And let me hear you say,
Because you care so much for me,
you'll let me go today.

Dedicated to everyone who has ever has loss a beloved pet.

Sorry for the loss of your beloved family member......

The Rainbow Bridge

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,

Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.

Where the friends of man and woman do run,

When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,

Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.

On this golden land, they wait and they play,

Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,

For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.

Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,

Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,

Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.

All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,

Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;

Together again, both person and pet.

So they run to each other, these friends from long past,

The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,

Has turned into joy once more in each heart.

They embrace with a love that will last forever,

And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together

I'm sorry for your loss Old Steel, they truly are more than just animals; they don't ever bitch you out or talk back like humans, they are the truest definition of dedication, courage and loyalty IMO. Any pics? It may seem kinda wrong to say this, but DO try to find another good dog to help you, otherwise you might dwell on his loss too long(take into consideration the breed for your needs/llife expec/etc.)..Hopefully time will heal your wound, bud.
Im not sure if you guys have heard the story of DUKEY, awesome rescue dog that at least spent the best last 3yrs of his life(warning tear jerker, Old Steel please bypass this one):

I've grown too attached to my mom's dog he is also 15, he still looks strong, but does get fatigued with much shorter walks now and starting heavy breathing. I can't imagine when we will have to say our goodbyes. Part chihuahua, the other part either Jack Russel or Rat terrier (about 20lbs.). Whereas most Chi'huas are annoying little shits, this little fella has always been real quite since the litter(that's why we picked him-only one that showed a restraint), but when he senses a threat or someone close to the home he has a deep bark like a G.Shepperd, seriously. Three times as big as a turd tea-cup chi'hua...Handsome little devil(we don't usually "dress" him up, pic on the left was from last winter, we had just brought him inside).
