I would say it is very likely the case! Alien extraterrestrial technology crashing at a site for military tech experimentation is not very likely. If it wasn't German tech crashing, it was American. The many witnesses coming out later claiming to have seen aliens is disinfo, the witnesses all have high military security clearance no way they would come out and be witness to anything their superiors didn't want to come out...

Occam says it was US Military experimenting with German UFO technology, as it crashed and it got attention outside the base, they decided to muddy the waters with outrageous claims, and also to create the breeding ground for project blue beam...
