The smackdown is relentless. Nobody cares about silver anymore, it is being flushed down the toilet. If you're looking to buy, my recommendation is to wait for single digits, we'll be there soon.

sucks to see it below 16; bounced off 15.68 so far tonight. The buck's "amazing strength" is at least half the story; 5+ year USD index highs now. It hit peaks of 87.40-ish on Fri,

Meanwhile SAEs is selling at 5 million a month even with the outrageous premiums the mint is cashing in on.
We might see single digit silver, but the premiums will be through the roof and many dealers will dust off their SOLD OUT signs and hold like the rest of us. Last time silver went to single digits coin shows wouldn't sell generic for less than $13 and bullion dealers had 4-6 month wait times for any sort of quantity.
The thing I like best about the thought of single digit silver is gas will be under $2 a gallon and bacon will be $2.50 / lb again.

One of my first silver purchases was during that time, through apmex. I bought some SAE's, for $11.76 each.
I seriously doubt we'll see single digit silver again. I think we're on the floor now with the silver price, but that's just a gut feeling. I think now's a good time to buy silver, if you can find premiums acceptable. But that's me, though I wouldn't mind seeing the price of bacon going down. Food prices are out of control, especially bacon.

i'm done buying regular stuff. with these crazy low prices i have been buying fancy, stupid stuff that i couldn't afford before. pamp carded stuff, pamp charms, weird one stuff, etc. i have quite a nice pile of playstuff collected that i will just give to my kids (who at 8 and 11 are silver hoarders in their own right and will never sell it).

While the dollar continues its spiral out of existence to unobtanium, domestic prices for commodity items continue their rise.
If the world is meant to continue from this point silver's relative value has no place to go but up.

I only hope the physical price will drop soon enough to grab some bargains. Waiting for now. Other preps are higher priority so I hope there is a little time yet. So many things unfolding that trouble ahead may not have anything to do with PMs.
Basic preps: security, shelter, food & water, energy.
Silver is lower on the list after these, but that depends on your situation. Having a little diversity in the preps can be important.

i remember the raids in Feb. 2010.
Beat Silver down to the low 15's.
I saw prices in the $14.80's.
The official low price may have been lower, $14.60-ish.
some traders use those previous lows to make estimates about this time around.

Then imagine the pain of postponing your bills hoping for a recovery, and then having to sell at $9, just to put some bread on the table... Or selling at $15 just because you believed someone on the Internet telling that it would go to single digits and within three years it went to triple digits...

Swiss Regulator: “Clear Attempt To Manipulate Precious Metals ” … “Particularly Silver” (http://outcastradio.net/swiss-regulator-clear-attempt-to-manipulate-precious-metals-particularly-silver/#more-8996)
November 12, 2014 (http://outcastradio.net/swiss-regulator-clear-attempt-to-manipulate-precious-metals-particularly-silver/) Don Campbell (http://outcastradio.net/author/dcampbell/)
By Mark O’Byrne
Further proof of manipulation of gold and silver prices – if any were needed – came overnight as Switzerland’s financial regulator (FINMA) found “serious misconduct” and a “clear attempt to manipulate precious metals benchmarks” by UBS employees in precious metals trading, particularly with silver.
Switzerland’s regulator found “serious misconduct” by UBS AG (UBSN) employees in precious metals trading, particularly with silver, as part of its review of the bank’s foreign-exchange business.

They took silver off the fix in August, palladium last month. Gold goes off the fix in January. No more banker manipulation (theoretically): http://gold-silver.us/forum/showthread.php?80722-Why-Metals-are-Diverging
Platinum, Palladium Price Fixings Make Way for Electronic System (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-11-28/platinum-palladium-price-fixings-make-way-for-electronic-system.html)
Nov 28, 2014
Platinum and palladium prices will be set by phone for the last time today.
The London Metal Exchange will start a new electronic procedure next week that can viewed online. The twice-a-day system replaces one that’s been in place since 1989 where BASF Metals Ltd., Goldman Sachs Group Inc., HSBC Holdings Plc and Standard Bank Plc discuss client orders and market demand to agree on a price.
The overhaul follows silver, the first precious metal to ditch the century-old daily fixing procedure in August. The gold fix will also be replaced early next year. Scrutiny has increased on how benchmarks are set, and a jeweler sued the four platinum and palladium fixing members in New York (http://topics.bloomberg.com/new-york/) this week over claims they conspired to manipulate prices...

My gut feeling agrees with you on single digit silver. My gut feeling remains the same from the last time that I posted here and that is $8.00 silver on or before March 2017. It is going to continue to be a long drawn out downturn with a few dead cat bounces thrown in for good measure. So more "lower lows" and "lower highs" for the DOG.

The game of prices is played with sliding scales balanced on sliding fulcrums amidst windstorms on a ship bouncing on stormy seas.
A couple things are sure. The first mate panicked and threw the anchor aweigh attached only to the fiat currencies. They will be secured in a stable place once the anchor sets at the bottom of the ocean with its short cord. And the first mate's name is Gilligan. The captain's name is Bligh.

I'll post this again:
Since precious metals prices are far more casino management techniques than real-world supply & demand, judging where prices will be is almost pure speculation. "Will I win this Blackjack or Poker game, or not?" The trouble is, "the house" (bankster metal cartel trading in fake electronic "metal") has a warehouse of marked and stacked cards for each game you play.
