Just thinking about how Amazon and Google co-opted 2 of the good words in the English language.

I was wondering what words the Chinese or Japanese or Indians would use.

I have the impression that "Alibaba" is like a Chinese Amazon, but I have never seen anything there high-quality ... side note :)

Alibaba is selling what the people wants, and that's what counts......when you give them what they want then rich will you become.

If "the people" want what Alibaba is selling, then what I have said all along is true: shit goods for shit people, style before substance. Quality stuff on Alibaba is about as rare as at Harbor Fake Tools.

I still don't get the Amazon name for a book store but ne'er mind. Alibaba is a just a big asian street market, like the ones in asia? Not sure how many have been to those kind of things. Same stuff you get at the Dollar shop. Everyone is conditioned so that a discount on the price of a product, a) increases the quality of the product in buyers eyes and b) makes them an A Grade hunter, because shopping is the 20th century's substitute for hunting/gathering and they clearly did good getting is for $5 less.

It satisfies 2 key primal needs. Get something for nothing and inflating your ego.

Bezos admits he just pulled it out of his ass. It was originally supposed to be called "Cadabra" (as in, Abracadabra). He changed it to an "A" word so it would appear earlier in alphabetized lists.

Just like Don Adams chose that name to get higher up the auditions list. You could say he got smart.
