EAST STROUDSBURG Pa. (Reuters) - A survivalist charged with shooting two Pennsylvania state troopers, one of them fatally, who then eluded a 48-day manhunt by hiding in the woods told police after his capture that he ambushed the men because he "wanted to make a change" in government and "wake people up."
The apparent motive behind Eric Frein's sniper attack outside the Blooming Grove barracks during a late-night shift change on Sept. 12 surfaced in court papers filed on Thursday in which prosecutors added two counts of terrorism to the criminal complaint against him.
The new charges accuse Frein, 31, of killing Corporal Bryon Dickson, 38, and wounding Trooper Alex Douglass, 31, with the purpose of influencing the policy of government.
Frein, who had been on the Federal Bureau of Investigation's most-wanted list, has been held without bail on first-degree murder and related charges since his capture by U.S. marshals at an abandoned resort in the Pocono Mountains on Oct. 30.
The court papers also contain references to a letter that prosecutors say was written by Frein, 31, to his parents that lays out his views on the United States.
"Our nation is far from what it was and what it should be," the letter states, according to the court papers. "There is so much wrong and on so many levels only passing through the crucible of another revolution can get us back the liberties we once had."
Michael Weinstein, a public defender representing Frein, could not immediately be reached for comment, and has previously declined to discuss his client. Frein, who has not yet entered a plea, is due to appear in court for a preliminary hearing next month.
Ray Tonkin, Pike County's district attorney, has said he will ask that Frein be executed if convicted.

Trooper ambush suspect charged with terrorism ... comment ...Oh this is rich. A radical Muslim shoots up Ft Hood and it's called workplace violence. A black Oklahoma Muslim radical beheads a co-worker and attempts to behead a second co-worker and it's also called workplace violence. The white guy kills a state trooper and injures a second and they immediately call it "terrorism". Something definitely stinks here. I don't condone Frein's actions and I despise what he has done and I hope he receives the ultimate punishment, but how are his actions terrorists related when the others that I've listed are not?

You should be getting it by now, there's good terrorism and bad terrorism. They just don't call the good terrorism that. Have you heard them call ISIS a bunch of terrorists?

The ways things are in USA now: if it is something evil, it is called good. If it is something good, it is called evil.

PA Troopers tend to be arrogant a-holes, however, he should have set his sights higher (no pun intended) - that part of PA is only 2.5 hours from Wall Street.

This makes ZERO SENSE

A man that can elude the 12 different alphabet agencies for that long is no fool.

This man was provoked and took it to the limit.

He caputure stinks to high heaven because if you kill a cop ...you signed your own death warrant so you have nothing left to lose so you may as well take as many of those rat bastards with you.

This is running the same tune like the unibomber and the frame up

Kills cops because he wants "a change in government" and "to wake people up"...

making everybody that posts pro-liberty on the internet a potential cop killer... right?

Love how convenient that is.

There were no mid-level politicians or judges he could have taken out?

This definitely sounds fishy. No valuable targets were lost, so a false flag is not out of the question.

Absolutely not. It reeks of corruption thorough any and all of the articles I read on this subject. It is all hearsay and opinion, no fact and no corroborating word from the 'sniper'. If this so called 'sniper' was caught he would be dead from the get go. I call BS... a FF attempt to ring in the guns.
