Current clearance at the frame is 13.5 inches. By just flipping the axle under the springs I go to 18.5 inches and then by mounting a 33 inch tire I'll have 23.5 inches of clearance.

Here's the base.

What I'd like to get are people's thoughts because it currently weighs about 400 lbs and the axle was replaced with I believe a 2,000 lbs axle.

This won't be used for exclusively off road, because I don't have time for that, but more for a bugout trailer that can go off road.

Granted it's for bug out, but you will scrub the shit out of your tread i think. Most axles have been factory toe set. Better if you had a welder add some extensions to the frame to gain the clearance.

Nice finding Nemo paint job..o)(~

I doubt there is any toe in/out issues with the axle, most run neutral. What I would think on is the stability once it's up in the air and hitting bumps and corners. Would matter how much weight and spring rate, the higher the load the more unstable it will get.

The trailer has an aftermarket axle so I'm not worried about it.

Is it the square tube with hubs welded on?

You sure that thing is sturdy enough to convert to an off road trailer? I don't know, but it looks a bit weak, under built for off road use. You may want to just stick with the gay jet skis for now, or sell the whole thing and buy a trailer built for what you want to do.

Think axle and spring ratings and what you want to tow. Easy sometimes to overload them sometimes.

Hey, one of those jet skis has MacGyver written on it. There is off road and there is 4wd off road. So dirt roads, fire trails is off road. The trailer might do to get you and some gear, maybe the MIL out to the bug out place. Might not have to do much more than that.

There are a ton of forums where you can read other peoples buildups of their campers. Check out some Aussie 4wd, camping or caravaning forums.

I've found this one a couple days ago which seems pretty good for people building stuff: http://www.myswag.org/index.php
