This wrapping paper in the Hanukkah section of a California Walgreens features what appear to be swastikas woven into a pattern of gold and blue. She did Nazi that coming.
A California woman was outraged when she found what appear to be swastikas adorning Hanukkah gift wrap at a local Walgreens.
Cheryl Shapiro called her rabbi and then the manager at the Northridge, Calif., store, NBC Los Angeles reported (http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Shopper-Finds-Swastikas-on-Wrapping-Paper-at-SoCal-Store-285001311.html).
"I really put my foot down because I was appalled by this," said Shapiro, who was with her grandson Saturday when she noticed the offensive logo apparently woven into a pattern on gold and blue wrapping paper.
"At first I called my rabbi," Shapiro told NBC LA (http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Shopper-Finds-Swastikas-on-Wrapping-Paper-at-SoCal-Store-285001311.html). "I didn't what to do."
But her rabbi was unavailable. So she demanded the Nazi party wrap be removed in a conversation with the store's manager.
Swastikas are clearly visible inlaid within the design.
A check of another nearby Walgreens found the same Nazi-themed gift wrap. Walgreens told NBC LA (http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Shopper-Finds-Swastikas-on-Wrapping-Paper-at-SoCal-Store-285001311.html) they were looking into the offensive gift wrap.
"I'm still very upset about it, that something like this could be on the market," Shapiro said.
