View Full Version : Weird day.

In 7 years at my job, I've only been late twice...until today.

I set two alarms, one is a simple battery clock, and I set my cell phone, both by my bed close to my head. It works. This morning I wake up to find both the battery clock and my cell phone on the kitchen table, moved. I was late for work this morning. 7 fucking years, late today and no legitimate excuse.

I work on boats, I am the engineer. At the end of the day I went down to the engine room to shut everything down. I went to the port main engine, wrote down my numbers, shut it down, and turned the battery switch from on to off. I go to the stbd main engine and see a blank screen. Puzzled, I find out the engine is shut down, and the battery switch physically moved from on to off. It takes effort to do that. It was just me and the Captain on the boat, and I asked him if he did that, and he did not.

When I emptied out my pockets of my workpants, I found something extra. A keylock, I don't know from where, but one of those ones from a simple metal lockbox. I have no idea how it got into my pants pocket.

Two days ago, while emptying out a parts kit, a bag disappeared. This was at work on one of the boats. I set it down on the table, and a minute later it was gone. I couldn't find it. After work today, it appeared on the floor of my RV. It physically moved from a boat at work into my RV.

I only make this post to point out there's some shit in life that we probably will never understand or be able to explain.

Do you have any history of sleepwalking?

Do you have any history of sleepwalking?

No, but I do have issues while sleeping. I wake up suddenly in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep. I wake up around 2-3 am, wide awake often, and stay up for a bit, read, then go back to bed and I'm good. One night I woke up so violently though I bashed my forehead on the wall though.

If anyone suggests to see a doctor, no offense, I won't listen to that nonsense. I'll deal with things day to day, without big pharma recommending things.

There's things we don't know about, I guess that's my point.

I guess we can't say your day went without a hitch.

Days like today, honestly are frustrating. No matter how much I try to figure out these things, nothing that I posted makes any sense at all. Accepting that is a challenge.

Just making this thread and posting this crap is a weight off my shoulders...

Thanks for listening, folks.

There are forces and entities in our universe that science cannot explain yet exist nonetheless. And, more importantly, they interact with humans, like you. Often malevolently.

I don't think anyone will challenge you or try to debate you on this.

This is truly the topic that is "not discussed".

It's real, folks. It is real.

When that happens to us, we call it Workheimers. You might need a vacation. If it continues, you may need to see a doctor.

No biggie. It's the same entity that steals 1 sock per washer load. Someday I will catch him at it.

That kind of stuff happens around here. I kick my flip flops off at the door but have to get one from downstairs when I'm leaving the house. That's just the tip of the iceberg at my house.

Well, I just got back from vacation a couple of weeks ago, so I'll have to wait a bit for another vacation.

I'm honestly thinking about quitting my job. I slept 12 hours last night. After a good nights sleep, this job is dangerous enough as it it. A couple of days ago we had a wire part. Damn near killed a new guy I was working with, a shackle damn near killed me.

In 7 years, I'm not late for work. 7 years I have this system with my phone and clock. The clock never leaves my bed. To find it on the kitchen table. It's like out of my control. If that happens again, I could get fired. If main engines get shut down. That's out of my control too, and endangers me and coworkers, and heck a lot of people.

I should go find some cushy desk job somewhere.

But think of the staplers and tape dispensers!

the sleep think is actually normal to wake up for a bout an hour and go back to bed.

Your Ancestors Didn’t Sleep Like You (http://slumberwise.com/science/your-ancestors-didnt-sleep-like-you/)

His research found (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16964783) that we didn’t always sleep in one eight hour chunk. We used to sleep in two shorter periods, over a longer range of night. This range was about 12 hours long, and began with a sleep of three to four hours, wakefulness of two to three hours, then sleep again until morning.

Awesome Osoab, many thanks for finding that article! That's exactly how I sleep most of the time.

I did some research online, and it seems every asshole out there is calling things sleep disorders. Doctor's admit to not knowing much about sleep issues, but are the first to say it's a disorder.

I like that time in the early am actually, your mind is very active then.

Very cool article, thanks again.

That's actually how I sleep. About 4 hours from 10 to 2 and then from maybe 3:30/4:00 to 6:00/6:30

not sure it's ideal but it's how it pans out.

You have a sleep disorder and you need medication, and/or therapy. :)

Kidding of course, but if you research this shit online, that is what you'll find. See a doctor, get meds, that's the solution for not having a normal sleep cycle.

I figure as long as you feel rested and well during the day, it's all good.

Usually sack out at 11:00 pm or so, wake up maybe 3:00 am and crash out again abt 4:00am up at 7:00 am. Been that way for years now.
