I'm looking at taking the another step playing around with digital video.

Instead of fish tank cam, it would be 'stuff i have to sell' cam.

So I'm looking at these 3 reviews -

http://www.commercialnetworkservices.com/streamingmedia/howtosetupawebcam.htm

I can go with any OS (except Mac, got all the hardware & SW for PC & Linux).

I expect it to take some time, and would like to make sure I choose a good set-up guideline to work from.

I have some 8 year old Logitech webcams.

Perhaps for up-to-date drivers, I need to get a new one -

Anyway, you know how computers are ... sometimes when you are using them, you end up taking the Lord's name in Vain.

I'd like to get through this task without swearing once, except perhaps a joyful 'Fuck Yeah' at the end.

This is the search I started with -

Those are decent cams, I have a Logitech hd pro c920 http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/hd-pro-webcam-c920 that I use. The only program I have found to allow stand alone web casting is a program called

Yawcam

http://www.yawcam.com/

That I use sometimes, for remote security, there are other sites/programs out there but not sure of the for profit angle but there has to be some sites on the web that would allow you to do what you want.

Thanks !

Got the Yawcam SW. Will try installing it on my laptop-that-has-a-camera.

Found this camera, 1080p for $60-ish. It has

I will probably try it on my Ubuntu laptop. I figure a dual core is enough to support the live cam tech. if that's all the laptop does.

Why another cam?

You have some good ones, unless it is a resolution thing.

Tho mine will do macro close ups 3".

Your computer sound's like it will work fine!

The old Logitech's are more like 640x480 video.

The webcam on the laptop with Ubuntu might have 1080p.

If I use Yawcam it needs to be Windows.

So I guess, a work in process ! :)
