McDonald’s Removing Big Mac, Apple Pies And Eliminating Large Size Options.
McDonald’s has just announced that it will be phasing out 8 menu items the beginning of next year and most McDonald’s customers are not happy.

With McDonald’s profits tanking over the recent months, the company has had to make some tough decisions to find adequate solutions for their financial distress by shrinking menu sizes. “Our intent is to have a cleaner menu board that is easier for customers to absorb,” spokeswoman Lisa McComb said in a statement. “To do so we must simplify our current menu.

This means the end of the Big Mac, apple pie and large size menu items. Currently, the Big Mac has a whopping 550 calories and 29g of fat. The Apple pie contains 250 cal, and it would take a full 69 minute to walk that off! With that being said, those two menu items were not a tough decision for elimination.

McDonald’s is currently testing out a new version of their slim down menu in Delaware, Little Rock, Waco, Bakersfield, Macon and Knoxville. They plan a full nationwide rollout beginning February 1, 2015.

One notable “ingredient” – preservatives – might also be eliminated from the menu altogether. Mark Andrés, President of McDonald’s USA, sparked widespread speculation when he asked investors, “Why do we need to have preservatives in our food?” And then answered himself with a “We probably don’t.”

What do you think about this new menu transformation at McDonald’s? In an attempt to make America healthier, do you think it will work?

That's gotta be fake. First clue, the bad grammar on the tweet. Second, no way McDonalds will get rid of their most popular products. Someone likely hacked their twitter account and made that up.

Edit: Yep, it's fake: http://www.inquisitr.com/1697660/no-mcdonalds-isnt-killing-the-big-mac-hoax-news-story-about-the-death-of-the-big-mac-goes-viral/

You do have to wonder about preservatives given their turn over rates. So cost of chemicals going up? A good opportunity to move away from food based substances/ingredients all together.

Are people going to need to buy 2 meals to get 1 or maybe 1.5. People could end up more obese. Anyway it sounds like big changes. They must be hurting. no just hacked

They eliminate meat altogether in the coming 'Big Muck' roll out. The new app-e pie filling would consist of HFCS with some e-number Apple like flavours and colouring, extra sweetened with aspartame...

Be ready for pink slime options with the introduction of a $15 an hour minimum wage.

I havent eaten Mc D's in a long time. The wife and I been trying to eat better, after you change your appetite and eat more healthy/real food, you can't see ever eating that kind of crap again. Not to mention supporting a huge global conglomerate like Mc Donald's and their crappy hood rat employees.

That would take like 4 quarter pounders to get that much meat on a McDongalds bun.

Somebody got access to McD's twitter account and the best they could come up with is we're discontinuing the Big Mac. Pretty weak..

Yeah, no kidding. Ate at a Taco Bell about a month ago, for some stupid reason, and felt like crap the rest of the day. Other than that, no fast food for me in years.

My experience with Mc D's is less than perfect. Worked there as soon as I turned 15 1/2 and could legally work. After 6 months, got told I was doing a great job and was due for a raise. 10 cents an hour increase. I quit the next day and got a job at a gas station.

At Mc D's, I remember seeing a coworker pissing in the 5 gallon bucket of pickles. Also, a manager was chewing out a coworker. He spit in the lettuce container and quit on the spot. I couldn't eat at Mc D's after that. That was back then, I'm sure it's worse now.

I doubt it's worse now with all the surveillance equipment they have. The food quality though is much worse plus the new chemicals in the food. I remember reading that the meat is formulated with a perfume so it smells good, sounds appetizing for sure. The local McD is off major freeways and is always slammed, stopped there 3 times in 2 years and they got the order wrong every time. I complained and reported to the corporate site... no one give a fvck as expected. Would be a great location to own a McD franchise though.

Now that's interesting, and I believe it. McD's has that certain smell, I always thought it was the fries. Smell is a powerful thing, and can trigger a lot of responses, including hunger. These people are good at what they do, to get consumers hooked.

yes I know people who are literally hooked on the stuff. Need to eat it once or more per week. I got to admit I ate it regularly when I did eat it. Easy to grab on the go when working. Enjoy that with some aspartame juice and you end up being a BFB (big fat bastard) in no time.
