It's worth noting that in the above case of the DC-10's complete loss of hydraulics subsequent to that crash forty different flight crews attempted to successfully get a DC-10 back on the ground in one piece in a flight simulator - all forty crews failed to even come close to what the crew of UA 232 managed to do.
