This is where I lived before moving to SD... never snowed (except in the local mountains) while I was there. It would have been awesome to wake up to this, although I'm sure it would have screwed up my travel plans for the morning...

WINTER STORM: Snow blankets Inland region, closes roadsBY PETER SUROWSKI / STAFF WRITER Published: Dec. 31, 2014 Updated: 8:06 a.m.

A blanket of snow has covered parts of Inland Southern California on New Year's Eve morning, creating a buzz of excitement among residents not accustomed to the sight, but also chaos on the roads.
As of 8 a.m., the Ortega Highway in the mountains between Lake Elsinore and Orange County was the only major highway that remained closed.
But earlier in the morning, Interstate 15 in southwest Riverside County and several highways in the San Bernardino Mountains were closed as well.
Four to 6 inches of snow was reported in Wildomar, Murrieta and Temecula, causing I-15 to be closed on the northbound side and partially closed on the southbound side, the CHP reported.
The closure started about 3 a.m. between Bundy Canyon and Clinton Keith roads. By about 4:45 a.m., at least one lane was opened on the northbound side and officials were escorting drivers through. All lanes were open by about 5:30 a.m., Caltrans announced.
The southbound side was partially blocked, the log shows.
Numerous vehicles were trapped on the freeway and tow trucks were called to remove them, a CHP incident log reports.
Baxter Road just west of the 15 was closed about 6:18 a.m. due to a jackknifed big rig, and a snow plow was working to clear Clinton Keith Road.
McVicker Canyon Park Road in Lake Elsinore was closed in both directions due to snow, the sheriff's department announced, and when it would reopen was unknown.
The Ortega Highway west of Lake Elsinore has also been closed from Grand Avenue to the Orange County line due to snow fall through the Santa Ana Mountains, Caltrans announced.
Hundreds of motorists in dozens of vehicles were also trapped by snow in the San Bernardino mountains in the pre-dawn hours and firefighters were busy with rescue operations in the areas of Crestline and Mount Baldy, the San Bernardino County Fire Department reported.
Mountain High ski resort near Wrightwood is reporting 4-8 inches of fresh powder. According to an emailed statement, it's the best ski conditions they've had in three years.
Snow was reported in the Cajon Pass and on Highway 38 from Forest Falls to Big Bear, but all lanes remained open, according to Caltrans.
This story is developing. Check back for updates.

The snow should really help our drought conditions!

Here we have had no snow in the past three years so that next summer will be a very dry one, and the water war will continue. I am lucky in that I have two large water tanks so that water will last me for five to six months........best part about it? taking a shower only once every three days.

Showering once every three days is the best part? How often do you normally bathe??

In summer many times twice a day, I do it outside next to my smaller black water tank that heats the water by the sun.....in winter I first wash up, including washing my hair, next to the hot tub and then I get in it.......here it is where I bathe every three days.

I haven't use my electric hot water heather is four or five years.....for the clothes cold water and for the dishes I heat up a pail of hot water.....it is a good life.

It was strange to wake up to see snow 5000 feet below me on the valley floor. I spent the day four wheeling in the Jeep.

SD don't get snow. They get something called snowcrete. Said to set up like concrete in minutes.
