A French police commissioner has reportedly killed himself after meeting relatives of a victim murdered in the Charlie Hebdo massacre.


Television station France 3 reported (http://france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr/limousin/2015/01/08/limoges-suicide-d-un-commissaire-de-police-626916.html)that Helric Fredou, 45, shot himself in his office on Wednesday night in Limoges, a city in central France.
Commissioner Fredou had been the deputy director of the regional police since 2012 after beginning his career as a police officer in 1997.
Colleagues told France 3 he was single and had no children, describing him as “depressed” and overworked.

French President Francois Hollande did not want Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take part in the mass unity rally held in protest at recent killings in Paris, Israeli media say.
According to Israel’s Channel 2, Hollande sent a message to Netanyahu, asking him not to participate in the unity march as he believed the Israeli premier’s presence there would be “divisive.”
The report said Netanyahu at first accepted France’s request on Saturday, but he changed his mind later in the day after Israeli Minister for Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman and Economy Minister Naftali Bennett announced they would attend the protest rally in the French capital.
When Netanyahu informed Paris of his decision to join the event, France responded by saying it was sending an invitation to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as well, the report added.
On Sunday, hundreds of thousands of anti-terrorism protesters gathered for the rally in Paris, with world leaders and officials in attendance. The event came after days of deadly attacks, which claimed the lives of 17 people and three gunmen in France.
The report further said the Israeli premier was initially situated in a second row of leaders, but he shimmied his way into the front row, alongside Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, EU Council President Donald Tusk and Abbas.
Angered by Netanyahu’s move, Hollande reportedly made an early exit as soon as Netanyahu took the podium to address a ceremony following the march on Sunday.
An Israeli source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said one of the French concerns was that Netanyahu would take advantage of the rally for campaign purposes and deliver speeches, especially about the Jews in France.

6. Media quickly fingers low IQ duped patsies based on magical ID appearance (think 9/11).

7. More funding for militarization, surveillance and police state with media replaying past terror events ad nauseam.

So, have the recent terror events in Paris met these criteria? Yes, they have.

1. 4. Media furor is in full force, polarizing the globe into a false dialectic of either standing with Charlie, or you are a terrorist. 6. Soon after the shooting, Kouachi supposedly left his ID laying in a vehicle (http://www.globalresearch.ca/police-found-the-id-of-said-kouachi-at-the-scene-of-the-charlie-hebdo-shooting-does-this-sound-familiar/5423827). This calls into question at least his supposed expertise and tactical training, and is also reminiscent of the passport of the 9/11 hijacker (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtCvWG-4OeA). What is more likely is that they had a handler who was intelligent, possibly the femme fatale who disappeared from the narrative, while the Jihad cut outs were duped.

The man whose amateur video of a Paris police officer’s cold-blooded murder shocked the world now regrets sharing the footage online, saying he never expected it to be broadcast so widely.
Engineer Jordi Mir told The Associated Press he posted the video out of fear and a “stupid reflex” fostered by years on social media.
“I was completely panicked,” he said in an exclusive interview across from the Parisian boulevard where the officer was shot to death by terrorists Wednesday morning.
The short film immediately became the most arresting image of France’s three-day-long drama, which began with a mass killing at the headquarters of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo and ended Friday with the death of four hostages and the three terrorists in two separate shootouts.
“I had to speak to someone,” Mir said. “I was alone in my flat. I put the video on Facebook. That was my error.”
Mir said he left the video on Facebook for as little as 15 minutes before thinking the better of it and taking it down.
It was too late.
The footage had already been shared across the site and someone uploaded it to YouTube. Less than an hour after Mir removed the video from his page, he was startled to find it playing across his television screen.
In its unedited form, the 42-second film shows two masked gunmen brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi as they walk toward a prone police officer, later identified as 42-year-old Ahmed Merabet.
“You want to kill us?” one of the brothers says as he strides toward the wounded officer.
“No, it’s OK, boss,” Merabet says, raising his hand in an apparent plea for mercy.
Then he’s shot in the head.
The video unleashed a worldwide wave of revulsion. British tabloids described it as “shocking” and “sickening.” France’s Le Figaro ran a still from the footage on its front page over a caption which read “War.” CNN’s Randi Kaye called it “an unforgettable image forever associated with this horrible attack.”
The iconic nature of the imagery rebroadcast again and again has anguished Merabet’s family.
His brother Malek told journalists Saturday: “How dare you take that video and broadcast it? I heard his voice. I recognized him. I saw him get slaughtered and I hear him get slaughtered every day.”
Some argue that the video plays a useful role by exposing terrorists’ heartlessness. Mir said that one official told him the video helped galvanize French public opinion.
“For me, the policeman killed, it’s like a war photo,” Mir said at one point, comparing it to famed photographer Robert Capa’s controversial picture of a soldier being shot dead during the Spanish Civil War.
The video did help cause an outpouring of support for Merabet and his family, with many adopting the tag “Je Suis Ahmed” I am Ahmed as a spin on the solidarity slogan “Je Suis Charlie.”
As Mir spoke to AP on Saturday, members of the public were still gathering at the site of Merabet’s death to lay flowers and pay respect.

Mir didn’t even know what he was filming at first. Drawn to his window when the sound of gunshots interrupted his emailing, he initially thought there was a bank robbery in progress.
When he spotted the rifle-wielding men in black walking down the street, he assumed they were SWAT police going to help a stricken comrade.
“And horror they’re not,” Mir said.
As police rushed to the scene, Mir downloaded the video to his computer and then to a removable disk, which he handed to officers.

Then, he uploaded the footage to Facebook and to the world.
Mir, a slight man in his 50s whose parents were refugees from fascist Spain, is still at a loss to explain exactly what pushed him to share the chilling video with his 2,500 Facebook friends.
There’s no answer,” he said. Perhaps a decade of social networking had trained him to share whatever he saw.
“I take a photo a cat and I put it on Facebook. It was the same stupid reflex,” he said.

Mir wanted Merabet’s family to know he was “very sorry,” saying that he had turned down offers to buy the footage and that he wanted media organizations to blur Merabet’s image before running it. But many, he said, just broadcast the unedited footage without permission.
The AP received Mir’s authorization to run the video on condition that it cut the scene of the officer’s death, which is standard AP practice.
Mir said that, if he could do it all again, he would have kept the video off Facebook.
“On Facebook, there’s no confidentiality,” he said. “It’s a lesson for me.”

PARIS (AP) — The weapons used by a terror cell to kill 17 people around Paris came from outside the country and authorities are urgently tracing the source of the financing, a French police official said Tuesday.

Christophe Crepin, a French police union representative, said several people were being sought in relation to the "substantial" financing of the three gunmen, as well as others in their network. He said the weapons stockpile clearly came from abroad and the amount spent shows an organized network.
The news came hours after a Bulgarian prosecutor announced they had a man in custody with ties to one of the brothers who carried out the Charlie Hebdo newspaper massacre.
French police say as many as six members of the terrorist cell that carried out the Paris attacks may still be at large, including a man seen driving a car registered to the widow of one of the gunmen. The country has deployed 10,000 troops to protect sensitive sites, including Jewish schools and synagogues, mosques and travel hubs.
Earlier in the day, in ceremonies thousands of miles apart, France and Israel paid tribute to the victims of the terror attacks.
At police headquarters in Paris, French President Francois Hollande paid tribute to the three police officers killed in the attacks, placing Legion of Honor medals on their caskets.

As Chopin's funeral march played in central Paris and the caskets draped in French flags were led from the building, a procession began in Jerusalem for the four Jewish victims of the attack Friday on a kosher supermarket in Paris.
"Returning to your ancestral home need not be due to distress, out of desperation, amidst destruction, or in the throes of terror and fear," said Israeli President Reuven Rivlin. "Terror has never kept us down, and we do not want terror to subdue you. The Land of Israel is the land of choice. We want you to choose Israel, because of a love for Israel."
Defying the bloodshed and terror of last week, a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad is to appear Wednesday on the cover of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, weeping and holding a placard with the words "I am Charlie." "I think that those who have been killed, if they were here, they would have been able to have a coffee today with the terrorists and just talk to them, ask them why they have done this," columnist Zineb El Rhazoui told the BBC. "We feel, as Charlie Hebdo's team, that we need to forgive the two terrorists who have killed our colleagues."
Two masked gunmen opened the onslaught in Paris with a Jan. 7 attack on the paper, singling out its editor and his police bodyguard for the first shots before killing 12 people in all. Ahmed Merabet, a French Muslim policeman, was one of the victims, killed as he lay wounded on the ground as the gunmen — brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi — made their escape.
Charlie Hebdo, which lampoons religion indiscriminately, had received threats after depicting Muhammed before, and its offices were firebombed in 2011.
France's main Muslim organization called Tuesday for calm, fearing that a new Muhammad cartoon could inflame passions anew.
Amid the hunt for accomplices, Bulgarian authorities said Tuesday they have a Frenchman under arrest who is believed to have links to Cherif Kouachi, one of the Charlie Hebdo attackers.

Fritz-Joly Joachin, 29, was arrested Jan. 1 as he tried to cross into Turkey, under two European arrest warrants, one citing his alleged links to a terrorist organization and a second for allegedly kidnapping his 3-year-old son and smuggling him out of the country, said Darina Slavova, the regional prosecutor for Bulgaria's southern province of Haskovo.
"He met with Kouachi several times at the end of December," Slavova said.
The Kouachi brothers and their friend, Amedy Coulibaly, the man who killed four hostages in the Paris grocery, died Friday in clashes with French police. All three claimed ties to Islamic extremists in the Middle East — the Kouachis to al-Qaida in Yemen and Coulibaly to the Islamic State group.
Two French police officials told The Associated Press that authorities were searching around Paris for the Mini Cooper registered to Hayat Boumeddiene, Coulibaly's widow, who Turkish officials say is now in Syria.
One of the police officials said the Paris terror cell consisted of about 10 members and that "five or six could still be at large," but he did not provide their names. The other official said the cell was made up of about eight people and included Boumeddiene.
Video has emerged of Coulibaly explaining how the attacks in Paris would unfold. French police want to find the person or persons who shot and posted the video, which was edited after Friday's attacks.
Ties among the three attackers themselves date back to at least 2005, when Coulibaly and Cherif Kouachi were jailed together.

It was less than 48 hours ago when Turkey’s prime minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, joined millions marching in Paris to pay tribute to the 17 people killed by ISIS-supporting extremists. Then, almost the moment he got back, things changed, and as the FT politely paraphrases (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/8e9e4ac6-9a6e-11e4-8426-00144feabdc0.html)what transpired, the "country’s president struck a much more confrontational tone." That's one way of putting it. Another is that the former PM and current president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, of NATO-member Turkey did the unthinkable: accused the west, and French citizens in particular, of staging the Charlie Hebdo murder in order to blame Muslims, even as the mayor of Ankara said "Mossad is definitely behind such incidents . . . it is boosting enmity towards Islam."
"The duplicity of the west is obvious,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a press conference on Monday evening. “As Muslims we have never sided with terror or massacres: racism, hate speech, Islamophobia are behind these massacres.”
His punchline: "The culprits are clear: French citizens undertook this massacre and Muslims were blamed for it,” he added.
The FT is confused: "Although political leaders in Turkey have repeatedly condemned the attacks on the Charlie Hebdo magazine, a Jewish supermarket and a policewoman, a parallel narrative has emerged in the country, with conspiracy theorists blaming the murders on foreign intelligence agencies rather than radical Islamists."
It's not just the French who were said to be behind the attack: so is Mossad:



Melih Gokcek, mayor of Ankara for the ruling AK party, said on Monday that “Mossad [the Israeli intelligence service] is definitely behind such incidents . . . it is boosting enmity towards Islam.” Mr Gokcek linked the attacks to French moves towards recognising Palestine.

Ali Sahin, a member of Turkey’s parliament and foreign affairs spokesman for the AK party, last week set out eight reasons why he suspected the killings were staged so that “the attack will be blamed on Muslims and Islam”.
But back to Erdogan:



In his own remarks on Monday, Mr Erdogan added: “Games are being played throughout the Islamic world”. He expressed bewilderment that French intelligence services had not followed the culprits more effectively.
The FT is further confused that Turkey is not the only place which has dared to offer conspiratorial theories: Russia is too.



In Russia, some pro-Kremlin commentators sought to link the killings to geopolitical machinations by the US.

Komsomolskaya Pravda, one of Russia’s leading tabloids, ran the headline: “Did the Americans stage the terror attack in Paris?” and posted a series of interviews on its website that presented various reasons why Washington might have organised the attack.

In one interview, Alexander Zhilin, head of the pro-Kremlin Moscow Centre for the Study of Applied Problems, claimed the terror attack was US retribution against President François Hollande for a January 6 radio interview in which Mr Hollande urged the EU to lift sanctions against Russia. Washington used the attacks as “a quick fix for consolidating” US and EU geopolitical interests in Ukraine, Mr Zhilin claimed.
The FT is most stunned that in Russia the events in Charlie Hebdo are being equated to the 9/11 tragedy:



“For the last 10 years, so-called Islamist terrorism has been under the control of one of the world’s leading intelligence agencies,” Alexei Martynov, director of the International Institute for New States, a think-tank, told pro-Kremlin internet outlet LifeNews. “I am sure that some American supervisors are responsible for the terror attacks in Paris, or in any case the Islamists who carried them out.”

The Charlie Hebdo affair has many of the characteristics of a false flag operation. The attack on the cartoonists’ office was a disciplined professional attack of the kind associated with highly trained special forces; yet the suspects who were later corralled and killed seemed bumbling and unprofessional. It is like two different sets of people.
Usually Muslim terrorists are prepared to die in the attack; yet the two professionals who hit Charlie Hebdo were determined to escape and succeeded, an amazing feat. Their identity was allegedly established by the claim that they conveniently left for the authorities their ID in the getaway car. Such a mistake is inconsistent with the professionalism of the attack and reminds me of the undamaged passport found miraculously among the ruins of the two WTC towers that served to establish the identity of the alleged 9/11 hijackers.
It is a plausible inference that the ID left behind in the getaway car was the ID of the two Kouachi brothers, convenient patsies, later killed by police, and from whom we will never hear anything, and not the ID of the professionals who attacked Charlie Hebdo. An important fact that supports this inference is the report that the third suspect in the attack, Hamyd Mourad, the alleged driver of the getaway car, when seeing his name circulating on social media as a suspect realized the danger he was in and quickly turned himself into the police for protection against being murdered by security forces as a terrorist.
Hamyd Mourad says he has an iron-clad alibi. If so, this makes him the despoiler of a false flag attack. Authorities will have to say that despite being wrong about Mourad, they were right about the Kouachi brothers. The American and European media have ignored the fact that Mourad turned himself in for protection from being killed as a terrorist as he has an alibi. I googled Hamid Mourad and all I found (January 12) was the main US and European media reporting that the third suspect had turned himself in. The reason for his surrender was left out of the reports. The news was reported in a way that gave credence to the accusation that the suspect who turned himself in was part of the attack on Charlie Hebdo. Not a single US mainstream media source reported that the alleged suspect turned himself in because he has an ironclad alibi.
Some media merely reported Mourad’s surrender in a headline with no coverage in the report. The list that I googled includes the Washington Post (January 7 by Griff Witte and Anthony Faiola); Die Welt (Germany) “One suspect has turned himself in to police in connection with Wednesday’s massacre at the offices of Parisian satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo;” ABC News (January 7) “Youngest suspect in Charlie Hebdo Attack turns himself in;” CNN (January 8) “Citing sources, the Agence France Presse news agency reported that an 18-year-old suspect in the attack had surrendered to police.”
Another puzzle in the official story that remains unreported by the presstitute media is the alleged suicide of a high ranking member of the French Judicial Police who had an important role in the Charlie Hebdo investigation. For unknown reasons, Helric Fredou, a police official involved in the most important investigation of a lifetime, decided to kill himself in his police office on January 7 or January 8 (both dates are reported in the foreign media) in the middle of the night while writing his report on his investigation. A google search as of 6pm EST January 13 turns up no mainstream US media report of this event. The alternative media reports it, as do some UK newspapers, but without suspicion or mention whether his report has disappeared. The official story is that Fredou was suffering from “depression” and “burnout,” but no evidence is provided. Depression and burnout are the standard explanations of mysterious deaths that have unsettling implications.
Once again we see the US print and TV media serving as a ministry of propaganda for Washington. In place of investigation, the media repeats the government’s implausible story.
It behoves us all to think. Why would Muslims be more outraged by cartoons in a Paris magazine than by hundreds of thousands of Muslims killed by Washington and its French and NATO vassals in seven countries during the past 14 years?
If Muslims wanted to make a point of the cartoons, why not bring a hate crime charge or lawsuit? Imagine what would happen to a European magazine that dared to satirize Jews in the way Charlie Hebdo satirized Muslims. Indeed, in Europe people are imprisoned for investigating the holocaust without entirely confirming every aspect of it.
If a Muslim lawsuit was deep-sixed by French authorities, the Muslims would have made their point. Killing people merely contributes to the demonization of Muslims, a result that only serves Washington’s wars against Muslim countries.
If Muslims are responsible for the attack on Charlie Hebdo, what Muslim goal did they achieve? None whatsoever. Indeed, the attack attributed to Muslims has ended French and European sympathy and support for Palestine and European opposition to more US wars against Muslims. Just recently France had voted in the UN with Palestine against the US-Israeli position. This assertion of an independent French foreign policy was reinforced by the recent statement by the President of France that the economic sanctions against Russia should be terminated.
Clearly, France was showing too much foreign policy independence. The attack on Charlie Hebdo serves to cow France and place France back under Washington’s thumb.
Some will contend that Muslims are sufficiently stupid to shoot themselves in the head in this way. But how do we reconcile such alleged stupidity with the alleged Muslim 9/11 and Charlie Hebdo professional attacks?
If we believe the official story, the 9/11 attack on the US shows that 19 Muslims, largely Saudis, without any government or intelligence service support, outwitted not only all 16 US intelligence agencies, the National Security Council, Dick Cheney and all the neoconservatives in high positions throughout the US government, and airport security, but also the intelligence services of NATO and Israel’s Mossad. How can such intelligent and capable people, who delivered the most humiliating blow in world history to an alleged Superpower with no difficulty whatsoever despite giving every indication of their intentions, possibly be so stupid as to shoot themselves in the head when they could have thrown France into turmoil with a mere lawsuit?
The Charlie Hebdo story simply doesn’t wash. If you believe it, you are no match for a Muslim.
Some who think that they are experts will say that a false flag attack in France would be impossible without the cooperation of French intelligence. To this I say that it is practically a certainty that the CIA has more control over French intelligence than does the President of France. Operation Gladio proves this. The largest part of the government of Italy was ignorant of the bombings conducted by the CIA and Italian Intelligence against European women and children and blamed on communists in order to diminish the communist vote in elections.
Americans are a pitifully misinformed people. All of history is a history of false flag operations. Yet Americans dismiss such proven operations as “conspiracy theories,” which merely proves that government has successfully brainwashed insouciant Americans and deprived them of the ability to recognize the truth.
Americans are the foremost among the captive nations.

VAULX-EN-VELIN, France — France may have just hosted its biggest outpouring of solidarity since the end of World War II in response to the terrorist attacks last week in and around Paris that left 17 dead at the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and a kosher supermarket.
But in the disaffected suburbs, or banlieues, that ring France’s largest cities, those appeals for unity hardly penetrated the sense of isolation, even siege, that have left cities like this one living a parallel existence from the rest of the country.
“I am French and I feel French,” said Nabil Souidi, 23. “But here you are forbidden to say, ‘I am Charlie,’ ” referring to the rallying cry of solidarity since the attack on the magazine.
Mr. Souidi recently graduated from a trade school and hoped to find a job as a mechanic. Months later, he is still out of work, searching for a Plan B. “I’ll go to Syria,” he said, with a sarcastic laugh in an interview over a plate of French fries and mayonnaise.
For him and many other French Muslims, the nation’s preoccupation with last week’s attacks at the hands of Islamic extremists presents a mere distraction from a fundamental social crisis that has plagued France’s immigrant neighborhoods for decades.
In numerous interviews, community leaders and Muslims and North Africans who largely populate the banlieues expressed concern that last week’s attacks in Paris would intensify an already explosive social and economic situation in the places where they live.
On Tuesday, a French association that represents 120 mayors across France issued a statement warning that the French banlieues were “on edge” amid the fallout from the attacks, and said there was an urgent need to address economic, social and educational shortfalls.
Vaulx-en-Velin, a dreary Muslim-majority suburb of Lyon, is France’s third-poorest city and representative of the problems. Many youths simply call it “a ghetto.” It might also be called the Other France.
Here, and in numerous other poor suburbs that ring French cities, joblessness runs around 20 percent, about double the national average. For young people, it can be as high as 40 percent. About half of residents do not have a high school diploma. Police harassment and profiling are taken for granted as the rule.
In a time of budget cuts and austerity, conditions have only deteriorated despite years of pledges by successive governments, including President François Hollande’s, to improve schools and create opportunity.
The men who carried out the attacks — Saïd Kouachi and his brother Chérif, and Amedy Coulibaly, who seized the kosher market, grew up in the French banlieues and had failed to hold down a series of menial jobs in their youth.
All were attracted to Islamic extremism by their teenage years, and many residents in the banlieues consider them bad seeds who were propelled toward the fringe.
Yet the fallout from their attacks, and the response shown by the rest of France, has been Topic A along the gritty streets of many impoverished suburbs from Paris down through the south of France.
Many worried that as Muslims, they would be lumped together with the killers. Others spoke of fears of retaliation against mosques and other Muslim symbols, as well as the specter of reprisals or even a crackdown by the police after officers were murdered in the terrorist attacks.
“People feel like there is no solution — that they are just totally divided from the rest of society,” said Gounedi Traore, 37, a social worker at the Centre Social Intercommunal de la Dhuys, a community center in Clichy-sous-Bois, a suburb outside of Paris that is one of France’s most economically deprived. “After what happened with Charlie Hebdo, I feel that this is going to set off a war,” he said.
Nearly everyone agreed the fallout from the Charlie Hebdo attacks — including a heightened security response by France and its allies —is a distraction from a larger problem: a sense of increasing social and economic marginalization that many cited as a root cause of young people drifting toward extremism.
“The attacks had a global impact but not local impact,” said Faouzi Hamdi, rector of the Okba Ibn Nafee Mosque in Vaulx-en-Velin.
Community leaders say France’s drawn-out economic crisis has made already scarce job opportunities even worse.
“We are not treating the problem at its roots,” said Leila Legmara, a deputy mayor for education in the Paris suburb of Colombes. “Of course we need more security and resources to fight terrorism. But we also need to address what it is within our society that is capable of producing monsters.”
The sense of marginalization did not disappear with the massive solidarity march across Paris on Sunday, which drew more than one million people and 40 presidents and prime ministers to Mr. Hollande’s side. For some banlieue residents, it seemed an almost surreal display that had nothing to do with them.
In Vaulx-en-Velin, the only Charlie reference to be seen was a sign for the Charlie Chaplin cultural center across the street from City Hall, which is topped with a drawing of a flag of its sister city, the West Bank town of Beit Sahour.
Residents there ridiculed the “I am Charlie” marches. Some said the terrorist attacks were staged. While many strongly condemned the attackers for the murders; others insisted the cartoonists got what they deserved.
Local leaders say this city of 44,000 is a microcosm of France’s failed integration policy, and the underlying social problems that have encouraged young people toward radicalization. Places like Vaulx-en-Velin have remained “priority zones” for the government since 1964, some noted.
As in Clichy-sous-Bois, youth here said they felt as if they were living in a separate country, detached from the social and economic benefits of the state, and abandoned by a system that preaches unity and solidarity with France’s Republican secular values.
“I totally feel cut off from France,” said Karim Yahiaoui, 15, who added that he has not left this suburb more than twice in the past year. Over the past few decades, the Muslim community in Vaulx-en-Velin has become increasing insular. “Many people only believe their own values now, not those of the republic,” said Anne Dufaud, director of the Mission, a nonprofit organization. She has worked in the community for 20 years.When Mr. Hollande led a moment of silence across France last Thursday for the victims of the attacks, two students and a teacher at a local high school, who declined to be identified, said many students refused to stand.
Patrick Kahn, a manager at the International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism in Lyon, who operates a weekly tolerance program in the schools of Vaulx-en-Velin, said simply: “The integration policy failed.”
“The suburbs were left behind in government planning, so they became segregated communities,” he explained. Fear of the authorities was already omnipresent, reflected in crude antipolice graffiti on many of the concrete housing complexes, which residents call “les cages de poulet,” or chicken coops.
The attacks only deepened concerns about racial profiling — already a common occurrence. One woman wearing an abaya said she had left the house only twice since the Charlie Hebdo attacks because she was afraid of the authorities.
Inside schools, students said there were already deep social divisions between Muslims and non-Muslims. One community leader said it was impossible to initiate a discussion about the Charlie Hebdo attacks without first explaining what satire, caricatures and freedom of expression were. Several teachers said their attempts to discuss the events had led to tense exchanges.
“Schools reflect the society,” said Stéphane Gomez, general councilor and deputy mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin. Mr. Gomez is also a high school teacher in the region. “We have to talk about what has gone wrong, and reopen the debates that we’ve been afraid to talk about for so long,” he said.
In Clichy-sous-Bois, residents said such a debate would have to include a hard look at the economic and social segregation that has defined France’s banlieues decade after decade.
“We need to give people ways to succeed,” said Mohamed Mokkadem, 37, who runs his own trucking company, SKL Transports.
Mr. Mokkadem had tried, to no avail, to buy a copy of the latest Charlie Hebdo that hit newsstands on Wednesday. He said he was curious to see close-up the new depiction of the Prophet Muhammad on the cover.
Conditions were already bleak in his neighborhood even before the killings, he said, and now, more than ever, he said, he wanted to send a pointed message to the government and the country.
“What we are asking for is to be respected according to our worth,” he said. “The message, quite simply, is to be regarded as truly French.”

19,000 French civilian and military websites are under attack by hackers, according to France's head of cyberdefense. The scope of attacks is unprecedented, Rear Admiral Arnaud Coustillière said at a press conference Thursday.





The French Defense Ministry and ANSSI, that country's version of the NSA, confirmed to CNNMoney that they have monitored a large wave of cyberattacks on all sorts of French websites.
Since Saturday, hackers have defaced the websites of French businesses, religious groups and the nation's army with pro-Islamic images and messages, Coustillière explained in an interview with CNNMoney. They essentially played graffiti artists, replacing website homepages.
Coustillière said the French Defense Ministry's website was also bombarded with junk Internet traffic in a denial of service attack, causing it to be temporarily inaccessible. The attacks were small and quickly addressed.
The admiral suggested this wave of attacks on the private sector and government are more of an annoyance than anything harmful.
"These attacks have no effect on the conduct of our operations," he said.
A cursory review by CNN showed that the 15 most popular French websites were fine and working without interruption.
This wave of attacks seems to be part of a tit-for-tat. Last week, members of the ragtag hacker collective Anonymous blocked a jihadist website (http://money.cnn.com/2015/01/11/technology/security/anonymous-charlie-hebdo/index.html?iid=SF_T_River) to show their support for Charlie Hebdo.
The cyberattacks also appear to be retaliation from jihadists against Charlie Hebdo's controversial cover. In the wake of the Charlie Hebdo massacre (http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/13/europe/france-charlie-hebdo-attack-trail/?iid=EL), the French public has rallied around the right to free speech (http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/11/world/charlie-hebdo-paris-march/?iid=EL) and the satirical magazine whose cartoons often offend Muslims. This week, Charlie Hebdo published a magazine that features a tearful Mohammed on the front cover.
Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, a branch of the larger organization, has since claimed responsibility for the coordinated physical attacks (http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/14/europe/charlie-hebdo-france-attacks/?iid=EL).
For perspective, major websites all over the world are constantly under attack by hackers seeking to take them down or break in to steal sensitive information, such as credit card numbers.
But what could make this episode in France noteworthy is that it's yet another sign that the digital world -- websites, apps and social networks -- are increasingly targets on a battlefield without national boundaries.
"We are seeing a re-occurring pattern that physical terror attacks, such as those in Paris last week, are also accompanied by a wave of cyberattacks," said Emmanuel Benzaquen, head of cybersecurity firm Checkmarx.

France’s most popular humorist, Dieudonné Mbala Mbala, has been arrested and charged with providing material support for comedy.


After detaining the French comedian Wednesday (https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2015/01/14/days-hosting-massive-free-speech-march-france-arrests-comedian-facebook-comments/) at his home in Quenelle-sur-Seine, the French authorities announced that anyone caught laughing at Dieudonné’s performances, whether on youtube, Facebook, twitter, or anywhere else, would also be arrested and charged with providing material support for providing material support for comedy. “And if you think that’s funny, wise guy” added Police Commissioner Jerque Culfoutre, “we’ll arrest you for providing material support for providing material support for providing material support. So don’t try any funny stuff.”


After confining Dieudonné in a laugh-proof cell, the French police cancelled his sold-out comedy tour, citing the need to protect free speech in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attacks.


“If we let Dieudonné make jokes, and the people laugh, free speech will be finished in France,” Culfoutre explained.


Asked to explain why Charlie Hebdo’s free speech should be protected by tens of thousands of police and military, while Dieudonné should be banned and imprisoned, French President François Hollande issued a statement:



“Charlie Hebdo is unthreateningly stupid and obnoxious, while Dieudonné is dangerously hilarious. If Dieudonné were allowed to speak, laugh riots would break out; some innocent people might even die laughing. We have a French expression ‘mort de rire’ (MDR) which succinctly summarizes the threat posed by Dieudonné.


“Some members of Dieudonnés audience have actually begged the comedian to stop his rapid-fire gags, protesting ‘stop, you’re killing us!’ Yet Dieudonné keeps right on blasting away with his jokes and endangering public safety.


“Charlie Hebdo poses no such threat. According to painstaking research by our intelligence services, the last time anybody actually laughed at a Charlie Hebdo cartoon was in the spring of 1972, and we blame that incident more on the marijuana the reader was smoking than the magazine itself.”




In attempts to circumvent the ban on laughing at Dieudonné’s youtubes, the comedian’s fans have taken to guffawing, chortling, cackling, snickering, howling, snorting, and splitting their sides.


Dieudonné supporters have also vowed to hold a Je suis Dieudonné march in support of the gagged and imprisoned comedian. A French official, Ministre de Démarches Rigoleuses Alex Craimant, told Je suis Dieudonné organizers:


“I will grant you the permit to march as much as you want. But there is one condition: You must keep a straight face.”


Craimant said that the marchers will be surrounded by hundreds of thousands of police and soldiers, including elite counterterrorism units with helicopters, drones, RPG launchers, and tactical nuclear weapons, all ready to instantly respond with overwhelming force if any of the participants even cracks a smile.

This is a very worrying development. Not because of what Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoðan has said, but because it signals that the ‘gloves are off’ now.

The Mail Online has tried to obscure the impact of a potentially massive story such as this, by neutralizing its impact with the frequently used NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) device, the words “conspiracy theory”. That term, used by corporate and state-controlled media strictly as a pejorative term (and not as it was originally intended to be used), has been inserted for one purpose only: to shut down any real debate or discussion.

Talk about over-doing it. A little long for a headline, but nonetheless, Eric Blair would have been proud. You have to wonder if it was written by MI5 (ask David Shayler and he will tell you what really happens in Big Media’s editorial rooms).

Back to the real story. The Turkish President has called out what many already know and understand – that the US (full list here), NATO (GLADIO and MH17) members and Israel (USS Liberty slaughter and other attacks) have engaged in the past in false flag attacks. That is not debatable – that is historical fact.

It seems that there are limits to how much some leaders are willing to put up with when it comes to western intelligence agencies and their governments spinning lies about the so-called ‘terror cells’ in our midst…

The President of Turkey has suggested French security forces are to blame for the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris last week, since the culprits had recently served prison sentences.

Recep Tayyip Erdoðan accused the West of ‘playing games with the Islamic world’, warning fellow Muslims to be ‘aware’.

Erdogan said Muslims are ‘paying the price’ for the attacks on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish kosher supermarket in Paris last week.

‘French citizens carry out such a massacre, and Muslims pay the price,’ Erdogan said yesterday.

‘That’s very meaningful … Doesn’t their intelligence organisation track those who leave prison?

‘Games are being played with the Islamic world, we need to be aware of this.

‘The West’s hypocrisy is obvious. As Muslims, we’ve never taken part in terrorist massacres. Behind these lie racism, hatespeech and Islamophobia,’ Erdogan added.

Erdogan also denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for attending a solidarity rally in France on Sunday with other world leaders after the Paris attacks.

‘How can a man who has killed 2,500 people in Gaza with state terrorism wave his hand in Paris, like people are waiting in excitement for him to do so? How dare he go there?’ he said.

Erdogan did not attend the Sunday march, though Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu participated.

Erdogan is not the only senior Turkish politician publicly voicing conspiracy theories over the Paris attacks. The Mayor of Ankara, Melih Gokcek, said he was convinced the Israeli intelligence service Mossad was behind the attacks, linking them to France’s recent move towards recognising Palestine as an independent state.

‘Mossad is definitely behind such incidents… it is boosting enmity towards Islam.’ Mr Gokcek said, according to Financial Times.

In Russia, several pro-Kremlin commentators blamed the United States and the CIA for the attack, the newspaper reported. One, Alexei Martynov, director of the International Institute for New States, said ‘I am sure that some American supervisors are responsible for the terror attacks in Paris, or in any case the Islamists who carried them out.’…

After having been told by the French President that he was NOT invited, Netanyahu went anyway, pushed a female French cabinet minister out of the way in order to get on the VIP bus to the rally, and then elbowed his way to the front line (http://blogs.forward.com/forward-thinking/212583/how-bibi-tried-to-make-paris-all-about-him/?) in order to be prominent in any picture of the event.

Just as you can sometimes identify Israeli tourists abroad by their loud voices, poor manners and gauche behavior, none of the hundreds of millions of people around the world who watched Sunday’s Paris rally on television had any problem locating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: smack in the middle of world leaders at the front of the marchers.

The attacker in the pre-dawn shooting Thursday remained at large, said French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve. It was not immediately clear whether the attack was linked to the assault on the newspaper Charlie Hebdo, in which two police officers were among the dead.
In the Thursday shooting, Cazeneuve said, the officer had stopped to investigate a traffic accident when the firing started. Paris police said the second victim was a street sweeper. The officer later died of her injuries, said Emmanuel Cravello of the Alliance police union.
"There was an officer in front of a white car and a man running away who shot," said Ahmed Sassi, who saw the shooting from his home nearby.
Sassi said the shooter wore dark clothes but no mask. "It didn't look like a big gun because he held it with one hand," Sassi said.
Cazeneuve left an emergency government meeting to travel to the scene of the latest shooting. France is on its highest level of alert after the deadly attacks at Charlie Hebdo's central Paris offices.

The first one repeatedly shows Coulibaly with tied hands containing no weapons shot downand killed when he could easily have been captured. The “mainstream” print and TV media parrot the official line and raise no unsettling questions. The independent Internet media is where real information is reported.


The German print and TV media have suffered dramatic declines in readers and viewers. This decline accelerated when Udo Ulkotte’s book about CIA penetration of European media was published by Kopp Verlag and became a best seller. Thinking people no longer trust the German media. The German media has lost the intelligent part of the population and only retains the somnolent sheep.


There are efforts to infiltrate the Internet media. Sites funded by money, such as Salon, appear. These sites attempt to discredit all who raise honest and obvious questions. Readers report that the Huffington Post has lost credibility by its move into “respectability.” Salon, apparently, has no more credibility than Fox News or The Weekly Standard.


The view I get from Europe supports my view. The left-wing, or what little remains of a left, supports the official stories of terrorist attacks, For the American left, the stories confirm the left-wing’s emotional need to believe that peoples oppressed by Western colonialism/imperialism are capable and determined and strike back at their oppressors. The left-wing’s sense of justice demands that oppressed and abused peoples don’t just sit there and take it. The French left sees the Charlie Hebdo attack as an effort by obscurantist religion to attack freedom of expression and brings to mind the French left’s anti-Catholic crusade.


The right-wing accepts the official stories for two different reasons. The anti-immigrationists among them use the terror attacks as evidence against immigration. The patriotic right can go along with this, but also responds to writers such as myself, who defend the Constitution against the government, with the argument that it is the government’s job to interpret the Constitution and I should not use the Constitution in order to criticize our government. Much of the American right believes that liberals use the Constitution in order to defend criminals and terrorists, who simply should not be tolerated. In other words, the Constitution is seen not as our defender but as a defender of those the right-wing regards as undesirables, such as criminals, terrorists, abortionists, and homosexuals.


The rest of the population has simply succumbed to the many years of demonization of Muslims. Indeed, Israel has been demonizing Muslims for 60 years and has created the image of Muslims as terrorists wearing suicide bombs. If a person has been prepared to regard Muslims as terrorists, the official stories simply fit that already prepared compartment in the brain.


Additionally, although false flag attacks are commonplace and have been used throughout history to advance undeclared agendas, the public has been brainwashed to regard them as “conspiracy theories.” Thus, anyone who raises questions is dismissed as a “conspiracy theorist.” Many Americans do not even understand that the official story of 9/11, for example, is a conspiracy theory. So is the official explanation of the Boston Marathon Bombing and the Charlie Hebdo attack. What it boils down to is that official conspiracy theories are accepted as true, but everyone who questions them is a “conspiracy theorist.”


Readers point out that as stupid as governments are, populations are even more stupid and that governments succeed in brainwashing populations. Many conclude that in the absence of an adversarial media, democracy is a sham as the people have no inclination or means of confronting the government.


The hope appears to be that the mainstream media will continue to diminish and will be replaced by the independent Internet media, thus releasing populations from their brainwashed state. Others think that this hope will come to naught as governments will assert control over the Internet and that governments will make dissent the equivalent of terrorism.


Those who try to suppress dissent might be simply defending a personal bias or they might be agents of a cover-up. Regardless, it comes to the same thing in the end. People who raise dissenting points and honest questions are ridiculed or demonized in efforts to silence or marginalize them. Whether or not truth can actually prevail, it doesn’t usually prevail in time. For example, “Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction” prevailed over truth. After Iraq is destroyed we learn that the basis for the US invasion of Iraq rested firmly on an orchestrated lie.


The culpability of the Western media in lies, death, and destruction is extreme. Consider the Malaysian airliner that went down in Ukraine. The US, UK, EU, and the puppet government in Kiev blamed Russia and forces of the breakaway eastern province for shooting down the civilian airliner. An investigation was convened. It has been six months since the investigation was completed, and the results have not been released.


Clearly, if the investigation supported the Western propaganda, the results would have been released. We can safely conclude that the investigation does not support the West’s propaganda. There has not been one word from the Western media demanding the results of the investigation. The world has forgotten it, but the world remembers the loudly shouted propaganda, and the conclusion, unsupported by any evidence, is that Russia is guilty.


The Western media works the same way when it reports Charlie Hebdo.

On this Jan. 18, 2015, episode of the Non-Aligned Media podcast, I spoke with Hafsa Kara-Mustapha, a London-based journalist and political commentator who has written extensively about the Middle East for publications such as Middle East Magazine, Jane’s Foreign Report and El Watan newspaper. On the program I asked Mustapha if Zionism and the octopus of lobby groups that work on its behalf is as big a driving force behind US and broader Western foreign policy as some contend. “France, the US [and other Western countries] are under the domination of Israel,” Mustapha told me. Mustapha contends that Israel’s agents have supplanted all independent leaders in the West, replacing them with grovelling lapdogs who do the bidding of Israel at all costs, even to the detriment to their own people and nations.


We touched on the recent events in Paris, wherein “Islamist” gun-men are said to have carried out a massacre at the headquarters of the Charlie Hebdo newspaper and a kosher market. Mustapha pondered whether the attack was stage-managed by the intelligence services, considering the two deceased suspects were being closely surveyed and watched by French intelligence and police for years, their names even showing up on ‘terror watch’ and ‘no fly’ lists.


How could terrorists plan an operation as sophisticated and well co-ordinated as the one we saw in Paris, but then mistakenly leave behind an ID card in the get-away car. “Why even bring an ID card on a terrorist mission,” Mustapha asked with bewilderment.


The utter hypocrisy of Western governments and their contempt for their own populations is astonishing, says Mustapha. Western politicians on the one hand champion anti-Muslim cartoons as “free expression” and on the other hand conduct merciless witch-hunts against holocaust revisionists and ‘anti-Semites.’


Mustapha noted in the interview that in Western countries “the full force of the law” is brought down upon critics of Zionism, whereas anti-Islamic neocon zealots are given a platform on mainstream media to spout lies and deceptions intended to demonize Muslims and Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq, Iran, Syria and Libya.

Jean-Marie Le Pen, the founder of France's far-Right Front National party, was slightly injured on Monday in an accidental fire at his house outside Paris.



The fire at Mr Le Pen's house in Rueil-Malmaison is thought to have started in a chimney where work was being carried out. Mr Le Pen was injured as he escaped the flames by climbing out a window.



"There's not much left" of the plush villa in the Paris suburb of Rueil-Malmaison, Mr Le Pen told Paris Match (http://www.parismatch.com/Actu/Politique/Jean-Marie-Le-Pen-Il-ne-reste-plus-grand-chose-697392.). "The damage is impressive."



"I managed to climb out the window, but I tripped and fell onto the ground of the terrace," he told the magazine, adding that he had suffered a minor bruise to the face.



He and his wife were looked after by firefighters, but did not require hospitalisation.



"The house burned, my father was inside," said Marine Le Pen, who now leads the Front National party that her 86-year-old father founded.
"His face was injured, but it is not serious, nothing to worry about," she told AFP.


Miss Le Pen moved out of another of her father's homes in the western Paris suburbs last year after one of his Doberman dogs reportedly savaged one of her Bengal cats (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/11134549/Marine-Le-Pens-Bengal-cat-savaged-by-fathers-Doberman-dog.html).


Le Parisien newspaper reported that around 40 firefighters were sent to the house and that the ground floor of the building was ruined by the blaze.
There was little sympathy for Mr Le Pen on social media, which saw a flurry of posts making fun of Mr Le Pen's misfortune.


"As if one flame could kill another," tweeted @JLRochedy, whose post included a picture of one of the Front National's symbols, a French tricolour flag in the form of a flame.


"Spare a thought for the fire fighters who saved le Pen. They are going to have to live with that all their lives," wrote @AmineJ4 in another of the hundreds of tweets that poured out after news of the fire broke.


Mr Le Pen set up the anti-immigrant and anti-establishment National Front party in 1972.


His daughter took over the party in 2011 and has overseen a huge boost in its fortunes, with the party coming first in France's EU elections last year.

TEHRAN -- Iran’s House of Cartoon and the Sarcheshmeh Cultural Complex plan to hold another international contest on the theme of Holocaust denial in the near future.

The 2nd International Holocaust Cartoons Contest has been organized in protest against French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo’s recent publication of the cartoons insulting Prophet Muhammad (S), the secretary of the contest, Masud Shojaei-Tabatabaii, said in a press conference on Saturday.

Shojaei-Tabatabaii, who is also the director of Iran’s House of Cartoon, added that world cartoonists are asked to submit their works before the first day of April.

The first place winners will receive a cash prize of $12,000, the second place will have $8000 and the third $5000.

The top selected works will mainly go on show at the Palestine Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran and several other locations across the city.
