Cop shoots dead a tased, restrained, 100lb teen: "we don't have time for this"

Tags: DICTATORSHIP

The central fact concerning the death of Keith Vidal, 18, does not seem to be in dispute: after the schizophrenic youngster was tased and restrained by two officers, a third stepped up, said "we don't have time for this", fired into the scrum, then tried to do so again before being restrained. Vidal, who celebrated his birthday last month, was killed by the gunshot.

U.S. Cops Kill at 100 Times the Rate of Other Capitalist Countries

Tags: DICTATORSHIP

One area in which the U.S. is unquestionably exceptional is the level of state violence directed against African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans and working and poor people of all nationalities. U.S. police killings outnumber those in other developed capitalist countries by as much as 100-1!

How many people are killed every year by the police in the U.S.? The exact number is not known. There is no federal agency that keeps track. The FBI compiles annual statistics for “justified homicides” by police—and all reported police killings are registered as “justified” by the FBI.

The corruption today is largely ideological and the payoffs come in the form of personal power. Cops get to feel extra-special: they can kill with impunity, or turn their backs on the mayor and disrespect him in public (in a way they would never tolerate) for attempting to make reforms that are ideological in nature. The cops can put a gun to your head and make you say the magic words, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

In 2014, cops are so far removed from the public that there is no hope of bridging the gap. Battle lines have been drawn, and you’re either with them or against them. They will judge you on that basis, not according to laws or any rights you think the Constitution and Bill of Rights afford you.

Dial 9-1-1 and someone will die:

Mark Wilsey, identified as Vidal's father, told reporters that his family had called the police to help get his son to a mental evaluation during a 'schizophrenic incident' in which Vidal had picked up a small screwdriver.

Hell, how about attempting to shoot dog, slip on ice, then shoot the owner dead.

Domestic Disturbance Ends with Fatal Shooting of Burlington Woman (http://www.kbur.com/2015/01/07/bpd-officer-fatally-shoots-woman/)

Burlington police aren’t saying anything, but one of their officers shot and killed a local woman late yesterday(Tues) morning in front of her house, after responding to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The victim has been identified as 34-year old Autumn Steele of 104 South Garfield. The officer who shot her has not been named by the state Division of Criminal Investigation, which is now in charge of the case.

A story in today’s(Wed) Hawk Eye says Steele had just been released from the county jail, after being arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly attacking her husband Gabriel. The newspaper account goes on to quote a neighbor and witness saying it appeared the shooting of Steele was an accident, happening as the officer shot at the family’s German Shepherd…which had startled him…and the officer slipped and fell in the snow.

Autumn Steele was taken by ambulance to Great River Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.

I wouldn't use the "startled defense" if you don't wear the magic blue uniform.

The double standard is staggering on this one. Just try saying, "I was startled by their dog, so I pulled my gun and started shooting at it, but then I slipped and shot the lady dead instead" if it happened to you or me. Of course, I'm not such a pussy that I would feel so scared of a puppy that I would feel the need to unload a magazine into it anyway.
