I suggest you keep looking. That looks like strictly a handheld device. Not only that, you're gonna pay for one that will withstand recoil. Check out vendors that specialize in NV and look into their Gen 1 stuff. I advise against buying used unless you know the seller real well.

If you want something to mount to your rifle, it's not 'stealth'* but it works well and the price is right -

*any NV that uses an IR illuminator is not going to be 'stealth' to someone looking your way with NV anyhow

Would be good for scanning the area, not for a gun. Do not try and walk with one at 5x. First gen tubes so do not expect crystal clear, more like grainy green sorta blurry pictures. I am still debating myself if the intensifier tubes age (think so) but for sure, never turn one on in daylight/bright room, will kill the tube in a hurry. Most have a front cover with a pin hole in it that is used when there is a chance of bright lights to protect the tube.

For walking around with one , try and find a 1x mag , also better field of view.

I ruined one of mine by accidentally turning it on in daylight with the cover off. Now it is a trot line weight!

That will give you night vision on the cheap better than anything else.

Don't these things give away your position unlike regular night vision? The one there says it's good for signaling in case you need help.

Only if they are using a infrared illumination source the light source can be seen by other night vision devices, stand alone using available light , starlight/moonlight etc, no.

If emitting infrared light, yes. If not, no.

Of course it does, it's visible to the naked eye. It was initially marketed to the nighttime varmint shooters - varmints don't necessarily get spooked by it.

Now if you're using an IR illuminator with your NV scope anyone else with a NV scope looking back at you will be able to spot your location just like you were using the Laser Genetics device.

Agree. I own a night owl, and it really is a handheld device. It does have the infrared, which can be turned on or off, but damn, when it's on, you can see as clear as day in total darkness.
