View Full Version : Copernicus-gate: The cross-roads of science, cosmology, religion and morality

As I reported in earlier threads, in April 2014, Larry Krauss came out swinging at "The Principle (http://www.theprinciplemovie.com/concise-overview-media-hoax-principle-documentary/)", a simple, but quite controversial film about cosmology (which he interviewed for). I thought it could be traced back to things he said on camera about very interesting and challenging observations made by the WMAP satellite, but then after the interview, unexpectedly confirmed by the Planck satellite mission (https://medium.com/we-are-in-a-special-place/planck-satellite-confirms-wmap-findings-universe-is-not-copernican-26f88f17a732). And, I think that that is part of his reaction.

But, I think there is more to it than that. Larry Krauss' friend Jeffery Epstein, a billionaire and convicted sex-offender, invited Krauss and a number of other top scientists to his personal island in the Virgin Islands (oh, the irony). One of the quotes from Krauss that producers and supporters of "The Principle" keep pointing to is the following on Edge.org (http://edge.org/conversation/the-energy-of-empty-space-that-isn-39t-zero):

But when you look at CMB map, you also see that the structure that is observed, is in fact, in a weird way, correlated with the plane of the earth around the sun. Is this Copernicus coming back to haunt us? That's crazy. We're looking out at the whole universe. There's no way there should be a correlation of structure with our motion of the earth around the sun — the plane of the earth around the sun — the ecliptic. That would say we are truly the center of the universe.

He was asked about this quote in his interview in "The Principle".

A couple of days ago, I came across this article:

Jeffrey Epstein And A Long History Of Slime (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/crime/jeffrey-epstein-brief-history-of-slime-786903)

It details some of Epstein's sexual exploits of minor girls, but also has interesting pictures of Krauss and other scientists I recognized on the Edge.org site. The quote from Krauss was made during one of the trips which included a visit to Epstein's island!

I wonder if this is what has Lawrence Krauss riled up? Just recently the linked story and others have been popping up on the internet. See here (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/01/08/sleazy-billionaire-s-double-life-featured-beach-parties-with-stephen-hawking.html), here (http://www.jeffreyepsteinusvi.com/Jeffrey_Epstein_Conferences.html), here (http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/stephen-hawking-joined-jeffrey-epstein-private-island-soiree/story-fnb64oi6-1227179971658?nk=06088fa42fd53390c7e8d774b93911ba) . Perhaps unintentionally, the producers and supporters of "The Principle" have helped to promote a trip that Larry Krauss would rather be forgotten?

I thought Krauss was a creep, but nothing like this! Evil birds of a feather flock together.

Bid for new charges against Prince Andrew pal Jeffrey Epstein, accused of sexually abusing underage girls (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/bid-new-charges-prince-andrew-pal-jeffrey-epstein-article-1.2073325)
Talk about a "sweet heart deal"!

"“A reasonable inference from the evidence is that the U.S. Attorney’s Office — pushed by Epstein — wanted the non-prosecution agreement kept from public view because of the intense public criticism that would have resulted from allowing a politically connected billionaire who had sexually abused more than 30 minor girls to escape from federal prosecution with only a county court jail sentence,” he wrote."

What was the Twitter tag in PatColo's YouTube? #JewishPrivilige? Or is it just the money? Who knows.

Interesting, from 2011 (http://skepchick.org/2011/04/lawrence-krauss-defends-a-sex-offender-embarrasses-scientists-everywhere/#comment-121891):

I will add one remark here, as most people have not read my full set of comments, posted after the post appeared.. I am myself rather disappointed by the lack of skepticality of this community. As I said, I have read numerous reports of orgies on Jeffrey’s island involving me and other scientists during our meetings.. Orgies that never happened, I am VERY skeptical of other claims on his behavior. I am defending Jeffrey for 2 reasons: (1) Based on my knowledge and experience I am skeptical of the claims in the media and of those who have settled claims for money… namely I don’t believe the published details just like I tend to be skeptical of many published details on the internet.. I don’t believe Jeffrey did what has been claimed, and unless I see hard evidence, I will trust my own judgement here, and (2) Jeffrey went to prison, and I happen to believe that having served time, even those who questioned his behavior should be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, again until proved otherwise, that he is working hard to live a good life and do good things. I for one am disgusted that people eat up the salacious nonsense the read on the web and then jump to conclusions about things and people they do not know.. I do not jump to condemn people, especially when it concerns their sexual preferences. I DO NOT CONDONE sex with young girls, or young boys for that matter.. because there are real victims there.. Until I know all the facts however, I do not jump to conclusions, and I am sorry, having seen the media frenzy around Jeffrey, and having seen the shoddy behavior of those who have attacked him, I remain skeptical, and I support a man whose character I believe I know.. If you want to condemn me for that, so be it.
L. Krauss"

Another interesting one (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/04/01/bill-clinton-katie-couric-woody-allen-jeffrey-epsteins-society-friends-close-ranks.html) from Lawrence Krauss, 2011 (keep in mind Krauss is a physicist, so he can tell ages pretty darn accurately):

"If anything, the unfortunate period he suffered has caused him to really think about what he wants to do with his money and his time, and support knowledge," says Krauss. "Jeffrey has surrounded himself with beautiful women and young women but they're not as young as the ones that were claimed. As a scientist I always judge things on empirical evidence and he always has women ages 19 to 23 around him, but I've never seen anything else, so as a scientist, my presumption is that whatever the problems were I would believe him over other people." Though colleagues have criticized him over his relatonionship with Epstein, Krauss insists, "I don't feel tarnished in any way by my relationship with Jeffrey; I feel raised by it."

I will not take the opportunity to comment on Krauss stating that he feels "raised" by the relationship. ;)

Holy Cow. Epstein hires Kenneth Starr (Monicagate) to defend him! Then Clinton gets pulled in too!
