Cadillac made its own mark among the new, blisteringly-powerful autos from the world’s most-storied manufacturers at the North American International auto show this week, where GM’s luxury lapper rolled out its most-powerful model ever.

The Cadillac CTS-V takes General Motors’ best-looking luxury sedan and drops a Corvette Stingray Z06 supercharged, 6.2-liter V-8 under the hood. The lethal luxury combo’s 640 horses, eight-speed transmission and 630 pound-feet of torque are capable of propelling it to 60 m.p.h. in 3.7 seconds, and all the way to 200 m.p.h. at the top.

GM swapped out much of the Caddy’s traditional metal body for carbon fiber, and added a number of high-performance staples including racing seats, bigger Brembo brakes and an electronic limited-slip differential.

I would hate to be traveling at 200 MPH and one of my "electronics" breaks down......flying by wire?...no way Jose........I am scare enough with my Toyota Prious traveling at 60 MPH.

eight-speed transmission It would help on he gas mileage part . we have a ford and it got a 6 speed transmission at about around 80 mph it gets great mileage

Reminds me of the diesel truck I rented. 7 mpg, about $1 a mile at the time.


I talked to a Saia driver with an 80K GVWR load. Said he got 7 mpg. Total pro, like watching a guy go to office with the briefcase, lunch, etc.

I figure the muscle-car mileage would vary according to work being done.
