EU foreign ministers have agreed to extend existing sanctions against Russia until September.
At an extraordinary meeting in Brussels, they also agreed to discuss names to add to the list of individuals targeted for EU travel bans and asset freezes.
However, they did not agree on imposing new economic sanctions against Russia.
The ministers met as fighting raged in eastern Ukraine. Moscow denies any involvement in the conflict.
There has been further fighting in eastern Ukraine near the town of Debaltseve, the location of a strategic railway junction between Donetsk and Luhansk.
Thursday's meeting was called after the government-held port of Mariupol was shelled at the weekend, with the deaths of at least 30 people. Ukraine blamed rebels for the attack.
There was uncertainty over the position of the new Greek government - a Russian ally which says it wants to avoid a rift between the EU and Russia.
Nato says hundreds of Russian tanks and armoured vehicles are in east Ukraine.
Moscow denies direct involvement but says some Russian volunteers are fighting alongside the rebels.
The US, which has co-ordinated sanction moves with Brussels in the past year, said it was not planning an immediate new announcement itself

The Greeks came out and said No, it was not Unanimous. We didn't even know about it and were not told and do not support it.
So there is some kind of Autocracy happening in the EU in plain sight now.
And NATO has presented no evidence and we know when the west has some they pump it for all it's worth. Another great news story from the Bollocks, Bull and Cobblers network.

The people of Eastern Ukraine--the Russian speakers are sensitive to and intolerant of Fascists. Fascists are the kinds of people the US government installs in coups in foreign countries all over the world. The people of the eastern Ukraine had the cojones to reject the Ukraine fascists, and they are putting up a huge military resistance to being taken over by those fascists. Those of us who enjoy freedom in the western world should feel a debt to these people for their courage in standing up to the fascists that are being imposed upon them by Washington. We should encourage them in their sucesses in kicking the asses of the fascists who are trying to destroy them for resisting. I wish that the people of the US had the same antipathy to fascists. If we did maybe we would have less of a police state, , less militarism, less corporatism. Here is a great article for how to resist American Fascism:

this could be the best comment I have seen about what's taken place there .... I'll bet most American's don't know or don't remember how the US-EU War against the people of Ukraine started. It is all recorded in the News Media, beginning on 5 Nov 2013, with an article titled "Bankrupt Ukraine asks for Bailout Loan, from European Union". Ukraine was $12 Billion in the hole, and asked for $13 Billion. EU response was a $5.6 Billion Loan, but required Ukraine to cut all trade and financial ties with Russia, in favor of EU-US. On 14 Nov 2013, Ukraine rejected this low ball offer, and asked Russia for a Loan. Russia responded with a $16.5 Billion no interest loan, to be paid to Ukraine over 3 months as $6.5 Billion, $6 Billion and $6 Billion. This loan had only one caveat, Ukraine's Gazprom Bill of $3.5 Billion must be paid from the first payout.
On 22 Nov 2013, The News Media reported "Ukraine accepts Russian counter-offer to US-EU Bailout."
US Embassy organized and paid Protesters, started Anti-Government, Anti-Russian Demonstrations, two days later, calling for the overthrow of Ukraine's Elected President and his Cabinet. That was the 1st step in the US-EU plan to prevent Russia, from Bailing Out Ukraine. The 2nd step was the same scenario the US used to overthrow the Governments of Gaddafi in Libya, Mubarak in Egypt and attempted in Syria. Demonize the Government thru rumor and propaganda punctuated by "False Flag" ops, to justify a "Coup d'état". Then replace the Government with one, that follows instructions given by the USA. As a result of this, "Wag the Dog" war, to reduce Russian influence in Eastern Europe, Thousands are dead or maimed and more than a Million have fled the country. Add in Syria, Egypt, and Libya the numbers climb to 6 Million dead or maimed and 42 Million refugees.
