As a rider, you need to assume that someone is blowing the red as you head into it. Doesn't look like he did that as the collision was at a direct 45 degree angle. He ran into the car as much as it ran into him. Had there been a car already stopped at the opposing light in the lane the other driver entered the intersection, I could see committing to a more assertive entrance into the intersection as the light turns green, but there wasn't... no protection against exactly what happened, therefore, more care should have been exercised.
And yes, I do own a two-wheeled street vehicle, and ride through intersections in a urban environment on occasion.

A rider needs to assume everyone driving a cage does not see him/her and out to get them! Lost count of cage drivers and I locking eyes before they pulled out or made a left turn in front of me. Pissd me off, all said they never saw me, tho eye contact was made!
All scoot riders need 360 vision and when in traffic assume everything and anything is possible!

I agree, as a rider, you never rely on other people to do the right thing. Assuming because the light was green it was safe to take off, was his mistake. Motorcycle riders must always think of themselves as being invisible.

Also, look behind you when stopped at a light. I was on scene of an accident where the rider was stopped at a light, and a car rear ended him destroying the bike. That guy was uninjured, but sadly the bike was a custom harley which he just picked up, brand new, and he had waited almost a year to get it. First time riding it and it got destroyed. The driver of the car was drunk too.
