I believe we have long surpassed Orwell's imagination. The sheeple will buy them none-the-less.

There was a blurb on the local news last night about this. Some will freak out about this and others will not give a crap, it is said the mic can be turned off...Really ? The only way to make sure is to hard wire a switch to the mic.

Every laptop has a built in mic and cam that has been built in the last few years or more. Both software controlled, ...Are they really off?

Is the software reporting to you that they are off telling the truth or lying out of their bits and bytes teeth to you? ;D

Been seeing 1984 creeping into our life's since I first read the book back in the 1960's, the last 10 years or so , not creeping but roaring into our life's. For the older crowd it is worrying and feared, but for most of the kids (last two generations) that were born and grew up with computers, maybe not so much worry to them looking at how tech is embraced by them today and all the smart phone apps for sharing, which they do abundantly. So it will not be just 'big brother' but sister, cousin, aunt and gov that will be into everyone business.

Yeah, some of the things people are warning about -- "The gov. can track you with the GPS in your cell phone." gets a big yawn by the Millennials and younger. They say, "Yeah, but it has google maps and takes me to where I want to go."

I agree, I've seen it creep up since I've been around too -- and I was born in the late 60's. I think it has paralleled the push for "social change" which has also accelerated [following the complete Tribal take-over of the MSM]. What is presented today as "normal" would have been completely unacceptable even in the 90's.

I bought a Samsung Smart TV last August. I found out about the big brother feature not long after i bought it, so I immediately disconnected it from the network wire. If it's logging any of my conversations, it's recording them on the TV itself, and not sending the content anywhere.

We watch you watching our propaganda cop shows, watch your facial expressions and listen to your comments, and decide if you need reeducation.

yes this tv is designed for this purpose. of spying.

I think it is interesting that this exact same story has hit the news in multiple countries at the same time. We had it here today as well. Different "journalist". I also think we did this about a year.

Most people don't know anything of 1984. They have not read it. I don't think they even do books anymore. The people I grew up with thought it a badge of honour to say they had not read any books.

That book should be required reading for all adults and kids, tho today I can see the ptb types someday may want do the 'Fahrenheit 451' thing to it, which is another good book, and warning before its time.

It stopped being required, it was an option, by the time I entered High School [c/o 86] -- again, there's a reason why it was. Same with Animal Farm.

Dam crying shame then.

Edit: Animal farm was also a very good one, once understood.

Yea the reason , is they did not want young minds to get any ideals or thoughts other than what they were being told to think.

Dangerous reading material in those three books.

They might produce ......gasp.....free thinkers !

Nah sorry to say you both maybe wrong !

Back several years ago power company's along with internet providers were working on using power lines for internet access. It was called ether BPL or IPl and was tested for many years, publicly they say was stopped in 2012 here in the states.

But very deep rumor has it that they could not get the high speed Mbps needed for commercial use for the masses. But worked just fine for slower speeds in the low kbps range. The skinny is the government took it over for their own use and use the power grid to feed into the new data center at salt lake city. With the advent of smart houses and appliances they wanted to have a shoe in the door so to speak and a secret way to access what was going on with the Hoi polloi and Plebs which make up the citizens of the country.

Very dark secret, they do not want to get burned like that time they wanted to put a snoop chip in all computers that reports back to their masters, tho who is to say they did not finally get their way with the chips, despite the Huge stink it caused when the masses found out about their ploys. (Bureaucracy's are prisistant if anything)

So isolating that smart tv from the net, ether by direct connection or over the air, WiFi, may not work at all to keep those types of appliances from reporting your every spoken thought and (some) moves!

The only way to over come this is to get completely off the grid and ether run that kind appliance off generators or solar power, In the event to be completely sure you have isolated those appliances and cover all bases for your personal information security, those appliances need to be tightly wrapped in foil, ether tin or aluminum to block any radio frequency transmission or reception. Just remember that your wall outlets may be listening.

Q.E.D

All said with tong firmly in cheek !

But maybe not so far off base !
