This got me thinking, that I hardly know anyone that isn't on some kind of medication to treat a disease, or condition.

When did we become such a sickly, frail population that we need all these pills to function, or stay alive? Is it all a big pharma conspiracy?

Incidently, I am one of the one in three, I don't take any pills other then aspirin...and I don't intend to.
Anyone else here not taking daily pills?

1 in 3 Would Rather Die Early Than Take a Daily Pill
New research shows a third of people would trade years of their life to avoid taking daily meds

If you hate swallowing pills, you’re not alone—one study estimates that up to 40 percent of Americans have difficulty swallowing medicine. But would you give up years of your life to avoid having to take pills? New research shows that one in three people would prefer a shorter life to a regimen that involved taking a pill a day.

Eager to learn more about the perceived utility of daily pills, a team of researchers conducted an Internet-based study of 1,000 Americans with a mean age of 50. They asked the participants how they felt about taking a daily pill that would prevent cardiovascular disease—and how much of their life they would give up in order not to have to take a pill every day. Though about 70 percent of participants said they wouldn’t trade a moment to avoid taking a pill, 21 percent said they’d trade anywhere from a week to a year of their lives. And more than 8 percent surveyed said that they would trade as many as two years of their lives to avoid taking a daily pill.

Though the researchers did tell participants that the hypothetical pills wouldn’t cost any money or cause any side effects, they admit they aren’t sure if such considerations skewed the study. When they asked respondents if they’d rather pay money to avoid taking a pill, 43 said they wouldn’t pay any amount. And though he emphasizes that the study was merely hypothetical, study lead Robert Hutchins said in a statement that it shows that pills can impact an individual’s quality of life.

Even ignoring the side-effects of pills, the act of having to take a daily pill can have a large effect on an individual’s quality of life. When you consider that many adults are on numerous pills, the effect is often magnified for that person. On a population level, even for the small reductions in quality of life like those found in this study, that effect multiplied across millions of people can have very large effects on the cost-effectiveness of that drug for a population.

Though the study seems to point to a problem with pills, it leaves behind several unanswered questions. Why were some willing to pay to avoid pills with money or even their lives? To what degree does the daily pill use of participants predict or impact their willingness to shorten their lives for fewer pills? And could better pill-taking techniques help solve the problem? Hutchins wishes he knew, too. “I would have really liked to have gotten to talk to those people…and find out what it was they thought was so bad about taking a pill daily,” he told LiveScience.

Up until a year ago I was like you, aspirin only at 63, but then the wheels started falling off. I can test it, no pill blood pressure shoots up, take pill bp goes down to safe level. Sure in the hell not ready to stroke out or worse anytime soon so two 1/2 pills a day for me.

Maybe been lucky, to make it 63 years taking nothing not by choice.

know many that take handfuls of pills per day that started early doing it. My med cabinet has only aspirin and my bp stuff, and pray it stays that way.

To they that would rather die early, that is their choice and life must really suck for them, not to want to keep going on enjoying , rather than enduring it.

But the real question is quality of life and the gusto that is part of a good life/living or

just existing.

30% can see through the bullshit that a daily pill would extend the life and have no side-effects, at no cost. If something sounds to good to be true, it is because it is.

You'll feel lucky if that's all you ever have to take.

I swear these doctors will try to get you on more pills if they can.

I know !

Better living through chemistry is not for me, other than in the past for recreation and even then limited it to everything that grew from the earth and not man made or tampered with.

I don't take anything. I even refused pain meds for a sports injury surgery on my elbow in January. I quit drinking too around Christmas. I'm not as fun as I was but I feel better.

Look into Liposomal Vitamin C, that has been known to lower blood pressure. So has magnesium, so has Cayenne pepper. But you'll want to monitor it closely. I had high blood pressure for a while just because of being stressed out at my job. Started taking Liposomal Vitamin C and the last time I had it check I was 110 / 64.

Pills can be used to assit in health but more times than not a single pill is used as the gateway to get their medical talons in you deep and they dont come out until your DEAD and Pennyless.

One pill gives off side effects
For which another pill is given which gives off another set of effects.
This increases exponentailly until you are a walking zomibe and a shadow of shell healthwise

Western Medicine will look on you as another satisfied customer.

I am one of the one in three. At 72 I seldom even take an asprin. I don't recall the last time I took an asprin. I had to be last year.

The only reason that I am taking my BP pills is because the throat Dr told me that he would not operate on me till my BP went down...after the operation, on the 26, I will stop taking this pill every day........I lived for 74.5 years with out them.

I don't ever plan on going to a doctor or putting myself into a position where I need daily medication.

I'll just keep going like I'm going till I drop dead and if any part of me gets too painful in the interim, I'll take up drinking....

I'll be switching to raw food diet this spring. Hopefully that in conjunction with copius amounts of maryjane daily and weekly doses of phycoactive mushrooms will keep me healthy enough to continue to stay away from Dr's. A good woman would be the icing on the cake for daily sexercize but not holding my breath on that one.

Sounds good but I would go with a medium-rare diet instead with some raw fermented grape juice on the side...
