This guy is not a prepper but a homesteader. I got been sidetracked again while I was researching personal/camping water filters and saw one of this guys videos on water pumps or something.

Thought I would post. He and his family are just going along, working things out as they go. Making a few mistakes here and there? Showing some great ideas as well. Seems like a decent guy, loyal wife.

there are quite a few things you can do with a chainsaw.

Glass you may want to look at the sawyer line of filters, I have several that I feel are very good, check out their specs.

Both of mine it is calmed to filter 1,000,000 gallons with proper cleaning/back flushing.

.1 micron filters, I have added a pre-filter(homemade) to my setup to catch most of the stuff that could clog up the filter, plus a carbon after filter both homemade and bought. Activated charcoal is your friend.

They offer one that is medical grade, slower filtering action but very pure water except dissolved minerals

In my area I would not hesitate to use any ponds/creeks/lakes as a source and not even bother with any chemical treatment, chlorine and such.

Go to the mfg's web site to see what is really calmed, plus read all the reviews,

Not sure if available in your part of the world , but I can not see why not.

Dog man, thats exactly the filter I decided on. I was going to grab a 4 pack and one of the Plattypus gravity fed ones as well. We pay about double for things like these down here. I was going to grab from amazon because I think they ship to here from there.

Heard they were good. Must be if you think they are.

Have taken one on a test drive so to speak, and my vote is they work very well !

You should be happy with yours, I have the gravity bag plus fittings to feed from a bucket with no bag and also the 3 way setup.

I caught a few more Wranglerstar (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMIjEnXruVHtvgSVf6TgfUg) videos during my holyday break. I was looking around at wood working. Thinking of getting a few furniture type things and thought I might as well think about making my own. It would be an exercise of starting from zero knowledge but I don't think what I am thinking of making is beyond me.

I like the way the guy thinks. Old School. He's not on his own of course but good to see what he's up to.

I started thinking about some kind of bench to work from. I've been looking at some that people are building and selling through the local trader sites. I figured I could buy a starter bench for $150 or so and start from there. The table would be small-ish at about 4.5-5 ft but the things to make are not that big.

The Wranglerstar dude did exactly that. Here is a series of him building a pretty serious replacement work bench, but as you will see, this will probably be a multi generational bench.

Poor Man's Carpenter's Bench (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idVew6hgqrY) - series 20+ videos. Episode #3 is a bit special.

I actually stumbled back into his YT's after watching a few by a UK guy called Paul Sellers. How to build a work bench (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru2ZiNs_Wek).
